Dear Parents and Community Members,

It is with a heavy heart that we write to you today about a situation our school is facing.

Over the past few weeks, we have experienced break-ins almost every evening and over weekends. Thieves are cutting holes in the fence to gain access, breaking through classroom windows, and vandalising our learning spaces. They have torn holes in ceilings, climbed into the roof to cut and steal electrical cables, ripped out water pipes, and damaged learners’ textbooks and files.

This is not just damage to property. It is damage to the safe, nurturing space we are trying to build for our children. Every break-in sets takes resources away which affects teaching and learning.

*We need your help.*

1. *Be our eyes and ears*: If you notice any suspicious activity around the school after hours, or if you hear of who might be responsible, please let us know immediately. You can remain anonymous. Every piece of information helps.
2. *Volunteer for security*: If there are any parents or community members willing to volunteer time to help us with after-hours patrols or to keep watch over the school, it would make a huge difference. Even an hour of your time can help protect the school.

Our goal is to create a safe environment where children can learn without fear. We cannot do this alone. Mary Waters belongs to all of us, and with your support, we can keep it safe.

Please reply to this message or contact the principal directly on 0749096650 if you are able to assist or have any information.

Thank you for standing with us and for caring for our children.
