🌱🌳 Celebrating Arbor Day & the Arrival of Spring! 🌸☀️

What better way to celebrate the start of Spring than by planting new life! 🌿

This Arbor Day, our Grade 7 students had the wonderful opportunity to get their hands dirty and plant two beautiful lemon trees in front of our Green House. 🍋🌳 It was a meaningful experience that reminded us of the importance of caring for our environment and nurturing something that will grow and flourish for years to come.

After the tree planting, we continued the celebration with a lovely shared picnic. 🧺🥪 There was plenty of laughter, good food and special time spent together as we welcomed the new season.

Here’s to new beginnings, growing together and watching our little lemon trees flourish! 💚🌱🍋

🎉 What a successful SP Entrepreneurs Day! 🎉

Our students truly impressed us with their creativity, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit! From delicious sweets and freshly baked treats to fun games, unique swords and beautiful plants, there was something for everyone. 🌱🍰🎮

It was wonderful to see our students turn their ideas into businesses, confidently showcase their products and experience what it means to be an entrepreneur.

We are incredibly proud of each and every student who took part. Your hard work, creativity and courage to put yourselves out there made the day a fantastic success! 👏💙

🏕️🌊 Grade 5 Camp in Struisbaai 🌊🏕️

What an unforgettable adventure for our Grade 5s in beautiful Struisbaai! 💙✨

From climbing the iconic Cape Agulhas Lighthouse 🗼🌊 to standing at the southernmost tip of Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet 🌍🌊🌊, every moment was a discovery! 🔎✨

Our learners explored the historic Meisho Maru shipwreck 🚢⚓, ventured into the incredible Arniston/Waenhuiskrans Cave 🪨🌊, and experienced the beauty of our coastline along the way. 🐚☀️🌿

But beyond the adventures, it was the moments shared together that made this camp truly special. 💙🤝 Every laugh 😂, every step 👣, every challenge 💪 and every new experience became part of a story they’ll remember for years to come. 🥰📖

Here’s to our incredible Grade 5s and one unforgettable Struisbaai adventure! 🏕️🌅💙✨

✨🎭 What an Amazing SP Drama Evening! 🎭✨

What a truly special evening! Our kids shone brightly on stage, and their confidence was simply outstanding. Watching them perform with such joy, courage and self-belief made our hearts incredibly proud. ❤️

We enjoyed every minute of the evening and couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of our amazing students. 🌟

A heartfelt thank you to Shona from Helen O’Grady Academy for all that you do for our kids. Your dedication, encouragement and love help them grow in so many wonderful ways. 💕🎭

What a wonderful evening of drama! 🎭✨

Our kids did absolutely amazing! Watching their confidence, creativity and skills shine on stage was truly special. They have shown such incredible growth, and we are incredibly proud of each and every student. ❤️

🌿🗺️ Eco Walk Adventure for our Grade 1s! 🗺️🌿

Our Grade 1 learners had a fantastic Eco Walk at Ebenhauzer Farm! 🌱🐾

At the start of their adventure, each group received a map and had to work together to find their way along the trail. They even had colourful ribbons tied to trees to help guide them along the route. 🎀🌳

It was wonderful to see the children working as a team, exploring nature, following clues and having so much fun along the way! 💚

A big thank you to Chelsea for welcoming us to the farm and giving our Grade 1s such a fun and memorable outdoor experience. 🌿☀️

Atlantis Upcycled Trashion Show: Save our Seas!

Applewood Preparatory Art Department and the Grades 6 & 7 pupils spent this term creating sea-themed fashion outfits made with trash, upcycled clothes and repurposed items. Our focus was on how each one of us can create something beautiful that in the process will help rescue our oceans that are being damaged by pollution, plastics and microplastics.

Students worked through the whole design process, from discussing the meaning of the project, to designing their mood boards, and then putting together the outfits, which required some new skills and a lot of creativity and flexibility. The results were amazing: some humorous, some “trash rich”, some super cool, and some downright gorgeous!!

Some interesting accessories were made in the process, including beautiful earrings made with recycled plastic bottles, mermaid ears, spectacular tridents and gorgeous crowns.

The culmination was an exciting fashion show, where the students paraded their fabulous outfits with supercool music on an amazing stage decorated with recycled items including beautiful trash jellyfish, a huge fish mural, a backdrop painted by the art teacher on an old duvet cover, and a spectacular giant octopus.

The whole evening was a showcase of the students' talent and creative expression, along with a great deal of enthusiasm and support from the whole audience!

What an absolute amazing way to end the term 🎊
