PUBLIC WARNING: BEWARE OF DRIVER'S LICENSE SCAMMERS
The Municipality has received numerous complaints about people being scammed for "over the counter" driver's licenses.
How the scam works:
1. A scammer demands money in exchange for a fake driver's license
2. Victims are then sent to the testing station to "finalize the process".
3. Complainants report losing no less than R4,000 to these fraudsters.
YOU ARE WARNED. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM.
Important to know:
- Licenses are NOT for sale
- You must go through the official process at the testing station to get a license.
- No official or municipality employee will ask you for money outside the official fees and process.
If you are approached or have already been a victim, please report it immediately to:
SAPS - open a case.
