Death of two young aviators
It is with considerable regret that we report the passing of two young aviators in an aircraft accident that happened at about 11h00 on Sunday, Annene le Roux and Ben Laas of Eagle Air Flight School. Annene was doing her Commercial Licence. The accident happened near Ingwe Lodge in the Magaliesburg Mountains. I knew Ben Laas very well since his father David Laas owns the Impala ZU IMP that is often featured at airshows around South Africa. Ben Laas was under instruction from Mike Weingartz to fly the Impala solo at airshows in the future. The area in which they were flying is very sensitive due to the proximity of the vulture breeding colony and as such should be avoided at all times by aviators. Rest in peace in that great hangar in the sky young aviators. Our sincere condolences go to the family and friends of the two young pilots.
