A Message from the Principal

As someone who attended Sunnyridge Primary as a child, this school holds a very special place in my heart. I know firsthand the values, friendships and opportunities that make Sunnyridge such a remarkable community, and it is a privilege to now serve as Principal of the school that helped shape my own journey.

Sunnyridge Primary School has proudly served our community for many years, providing a safe, caring and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow and thrive.

Like all school fee-paying public schools, we rely heavily on the payment of school fees to meet our monthly financial obligations. In actual fact, school fees are our main source of income. These funds enable us to pay for essential services and resources, including municipal accounts, maintenance, educational materials, printing, cleaning supplies, security and many of the day-to-day necessities that keep our school functioning effectively.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the many families who faithfully honour their financial commitments to the school. Your support makes a significant difference and helps us continue providing quality education to all our learners.

As we begin a new month, I kindly appeal to parents whose accounts are outstanding to make payment arrangements with the school or to bring their accounts up to date where possible. Every payment, no matter the amount, contributes to the wellbeing of our learners and the sustainability of our school.

To our former pupils, alumni, past parents and members of the wider Sunnyridge family who continue to follow our journey, thank you for your ongoing interest and support. Sunnyridge has always been more than a school—it is a community, and together we can ensure that it continues to flourish for generations to come.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Mrs Van Merwe, a much-loved member of the Sunnyridge Family.

Mrs Van Merwe was a born teacher who had a true passion for education, especially for teaching Afrikaans. She poured her heart and soul into her work and touched the lives of countless learners throughout her years of service.

Even during her long and difficult battle with illness, her love for teaching and for her learners never faded. Her dedication, kindness and commitment to education will always be remembered.

Mrs Van Merwe leaves behind a legacy of care, passion and excellence that will continue to live on in the hearts of the many learners, colleagues and families whose lives she impacted.

She will always remain a treasured part of the Sunnyridge Family.
