Today I gave the children instructions for a group project.
One of the boys looked at me very seriously and asked:
“So… is this like a multiplayer activity?” 😂
And I thought, well… technically… YES. 🤣
So I explained that, yes, it is indeed a “multiplayer activity”, but in my world, we might also call it collaboration, cooperation, cohesion and symbiosis. 😅
He looked at me like I had just started speaking ancient Greek.
And this is the fascinating thing about teaching children today…
They understand the world through gaming, apps, memes, emojis, TikTok terminology and multiplayer experiences. They have their own language for everything!
And honestly… I kind of love it.
Because underneath all the slang, the technology and the ever changing vocabulary, they are still learning some very old fashioned lessons:
How to communicate.
How to work together.
How to listen.
How to contribute.
How to solve problems as a team.
And how our individual strengths can work together to create something better.
So yes....
It is a multiplayer activity. 😂
But tomorrow, we're learning about symbiosis.
Wish me luck. 🤣📚🎮

Learning Through Every Sense 🌈📚✋👂👀
Reading, writing and spelling in the foundation years shouldn’t be about simply sitting down with a pencil and a book. Young children learn best when their whole body and all their senses are involved. 💛
When we allow children to see, hear, touch, move, say, build, trace and create, learning becomes more meaningful, memorable and enjoyable.
From forming letters in sand and using movement to practise sounds, to listening carefully, saying words aloud and using hands-on activities to reinforce spelling, every sense becomes part of the learning process.
✨ See it. Say it. Hear it. Touch it. Move it. Write it. Remember it.
Because when learning is engaging and multisensory, children aren’t just memorising, they are experiencing learning, building confidence and creating strong foundations for literacy. 🌱📖✏️
