Residents in Phola Park are also being offered a range of FREE healthcare services at Cossovo Informal Settlement Sports Ground.

Services include health screenings, HIV and TB testing, vaccinations, chronic medication support, oral health services, Pap smear and PSA screening, Lenacapavir administration and more.

As we continue to observe Women’s Month, Gauteng Health Department is at Cossovo Informal Settlement Sports Ground in Phola Park, bringing essential health information and prevention services closer to women and girls in the community.

The outreach is focused on cervical cancer awareness, including education on risk factors, prevention and the importance of regular screening. Women are also learning how to perform breast self-examinations and recognise changes that may require medical attention.

Girls are encouraged to get the HPV vaccine, while women aged 25–55 are encouraged to undergo cervical cancer screening for the early identification of precancerous changes.

MEC for Health and Wellness, Faith Mazibuko, leading the Outreach Programme at Mamello Community Hall in Vaal Marina, Sedibeng, as part of the Gauteng Department of Health's ongoing commitment to bringing quality healthcare services directly to communities.

Residents accessed a wide range of essential services, including comprehensive health screenings, HIV and TB testing, immunisation and vaccination services, Vitamin A supplementation and deworming, family planning, chronic medication adherence support, oral health services, Pap smears, PSA screenings, as well as health education and awareness exhibitions.

During the outreach, MEC Mazibuko, together with health promoters, engaged community members on the importance of knowing their health status and undergoing regular health screenings for conditions such as diabetes, cancer, hypertension, and other preventable diseases. The MEC also joined Ward-Based Outreach Teams and healthcare professionals on household visits, where they provided medical care and support to elderly residents, reinforcing the department's commitment to accessible, people-centred healthcare and improving health outcomes across Gauteng.

Closing 1.1 million HIV Treatment Gap is meant for people who tested positive but never started ART. The Gauteng Province has a target of 325 000 to be initiated on ART. The campaign was launched in Gauteng Province due to high gap to treatment.
The campaign prioritizes men aged 25-29 and above 50 years and youth. The department’s aim is close a gap through this campaign for men who are reluctant to visit healthcare facilities.

The encourages parents and guardians to take advantage of the school holidays by taking their sons for Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) at their nearest public health facility.

Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision has important health benefits, including reducing the risk of HIV infection and certain sexually transmitted infections, and promoting better long-term health outcomes for men and boys.

As part of the Department’s efforts to reach eligible girl learners across the province, school health nurses are at Benoni Christian School, a private school in Benoni, administering the one-shot HPV vaccine.

The 2026 HPV Single-Dose Vaccination Campaign is running from 03 August to 09 October 2026, with vaccinations taking place at schools across Gauteng.
The vaccine provides lifelong protection against HPV, which can cause cervical cancer.

As the HPV vaccination programme takes place at schools, parents are encouraged to sign and return the consent forms to allow eligible girl learners to receive the one-shot HPV vaccine.
By signing the consent form, you are supporting your daughter’s access to protection against HPV and helping prevent cervical cancer.

Before receiving your Lenacapavir injection, you first need to test for HIV. It’s that simple.

Visit your nearest participating facility to see if you qualify for Lenacapavir, and get protection for up to six months.
