TIME IS RUNNNING OUT TO SUPPORT THE NOMINATION FOR OUR SCHOOL TO BE DECLARED A NATIONAL HERITAGE SITE
The quest for national heritage status for our school is getting ever closer. There is one more major hurdle to clear. But we still need ex-Trafalgarians and anyone who feels we deserve to be accorded that status to show their support.
The South African Heritage Resource Agency (SAHRA) has advised the Trafalgar Alumni Association, which nominated the school for national heritage status with SAHRA, that the formal application has “cleared four of the five hurdles” required to be given national heritage status.
A representative of SAHRA said this week that its top committee would be meeting late in January or early February to give the application the big tick — dependent, of course, on the public response. SAHRA is currently engaged in a two-month period of community consultation to see how much support there is for approval. This is a required a step in the whole process of acquiring national heritage status.
The consultative period ends on January 6. So, if you have Trafalgar’s interests at heart, please show your support by emailing [email protected] or [email protected] with “Trafalgar High National Heritage Status Support” in the subject line.
Or you can click on the link below to the Public Comment page of SAHRA, scroll to the bottom, fill in your details and a short comment like “I Support It”.
