💥Division Board💥

The Division Board is a wooden board that lives in the Math area of a Montessori classroom. The board has 81 holes that are arranged in 9 rows across & 9 rows down. There are numbers from 1 - 9 printed across the top of the board & down the left-hand side of the board.
The child is introduced to the division sign in this activity, it shows them different ways of doing division, as well giving them a better understanding of division.

💥Multiplication Board💥

The Multiplication Board is a wooden board used in a Montessori classroom in the Math area. The board has 100 holes arranged in 10 rows of ten. There is a slot on the left of the board for the number card to be inserted in. The numbers 1-10 are printed along the top of the board. A red counter is slotted into the top left-hand corner of the board.
This activity shows the child different ways of doing multiplication, reinforces multiplication, & the multiplication (x) & equals (=) signs, as well as giving the child an understanding of the process of multiplication & how to memorise the multiplication tables.

💥Equivalence Material💥

The Equivalent Figure Material (also known as the Equivalence Material) is an elementary Montessori math & geometry resource used to teach children ages 6–12 how different shapes can have the same area (equivalence) even if they look entirely different.
➡Understand Area Concretely: Shows physically that rearranging or dividing a shape (like turning a trapezoid or polygon into a measurable rectangle) does not change its total space or value.
➡Derive Formulas: Helps upper-elementary students discover & prove geometric formulas for area, such as triangles, quadrilaterals, & regular polygons.
➡Build Mathematical Vocabulary: Teaches precise geometric terms like congruent, similar, equivalent, trapezoid, & rhombus through hands-on manipulation.

Today we celebrate the birthday of our wonderful founder - Dr Maria Montessori 🙏✨🥳
Maria Montessori was an Italian physician, educator, & innovator, acclaimed for her educational method that builds on the way children learn naturally.
She opened the first Montessori school — the Casa dei Bambini, or Children’s House — in Rome on January 6, 1907. Subsequently, she traveled the world & wrote extensively about her approach to education, attracting many devotees. There are now thousands of Montessori schools in countries worldwide.
We are grateful to Dr Montessori for inspiring teachers across the world to make a difference in educating children from a young age, guiding them in their development, & acknowledging their accomplishments.🌟

💥The Bank Game💥

The Montessori Bank Game is a hands-on math activity that teaches young children place value, the decimal system, & operations like addition, subtraction, & multiplication using Golden Beads. The material contains a wooden compartment box containing: 1) number cards for the multiplication from 1-9 units to 1 000-9 000. 2) number cards for the multiplier. 3) number cards for the products from 1-9 to 100-900 million. 4) name tags for the different roles presented by the children.

💥Large Fraction Skittles💥

The Fraction Skittles are part of the Mathematics curriculum & provide children with an excellent visual example of fractions from an early age.
The material is comprised of a set of four wooden skittles; a whole skittle, & skittles divided into two, three, & four pieces. The skittle divided in half makes one skittle when put the red sides together. The skittle divided in three pieces makes one when you put the orange sides together. The skittle divided into fourths has matching green sides.
Fraction Skittles are introduced to children from the age of 2.5 years old, & are used all the way through to the Primary School curriculum. They have two main purposes, the first being to give a sensorial feel of the concept of fractions to small children, & to show that a whole may be divided into parts. They are also a concrete way to introduce mathematical concepts such as equivalent fractions, all arithmetic functions, conversion between fractions & decimal fractions, & measurement of angles.
