During the last week, Workspace was asked to teach some boys how to make skateboard decks. We devised a two day workshop that entailed, clamping, gluing, bending and shaping plywood to create the decks. Day one involved the gluing and clamping of the skateboard decks and the preparation of some wood to make jewellery boxes. Day two involved using the jig-saw to cut the profile and then we sanded, shaped and finished the boards. We drilled holes and attached the trucks and put on grip tape. Once completed the jewellery boxes were sanded and shaped. Here are some pics of what we achieved.

The next Creative Workshop will be held on Saturday the 20th February 2016. We will be using a Lala Palm Seed to make jewellery. This seed is found in the Kruger park and is also known as vegetable ivory, as it is a hard white ivory looking seed. It is a great material to use as it is easy to cut, sand and shape into something amazing. For more information about the classes, feel free to contact us on The Creative Workshop page or Liesl on 082 675 4714 / [email protected] .
