Little hands were hard at work in the garden today as our 1–5 year olds happily dug, scooped, and planted their carrot seeds! With big smiles, they gently covered their seedsβ€”excited to watch them grow. We also checked on the herbs we planted a few weeks ago and were thrilled to see some new growth!

During this activity, the children explored art inspired by The Scream, using colour and creativity to express feelings. They used painting, colouring, and sticking materials, which supported fine motor and sensory development.
The activity encouraged emotional expression, helping children understand that art can show feelings like excitement or surprise. It also promoted creativity and independence, as each child chose how to complete their artwork.
Overall, the experience boosted confidence, imagination, and early artistic skills in a fun and engaging way.❀️🎨

A vinegar volcano may look like simple messy fun, but toddlers actually gain a lot of learning through this kind of play and exploration.

🧠 Early science understanding
Children begin to see that when baking soda and vinegar are mixed, something new happens. This introduces the idea that mixing substances can create change.

πŸ‘€ Cause and effect
They start to understand: β€œI poured this β†’ it bubbled!” This helps them realise that their actions can create reactions.

βœ‹ Fine motor skills
Pouring, scooping, and stirring help strengthen hand control and coordination.

🎨 Sensory development
The fizzing, foaming, and colours engage their senses, which supports brain development.

😊 Confidence and curiosity
Children feel excited and proud to create something that β€œerupts,” encouraging curiosity and a love for exploration.

This week our theme was β€œAt the Shops,” and the children truly enjoyed every moment of exploring it. They learned about the different kinds of shops we visit, what we can buy from each one, who helps us at the shops, and how we pay for the things we need.😁❀️

A highlight of the week was the fun activity where the children had the chance to β€œbuy” their own treats. They were so excited and engaged throughout the experience!πŸ›οΈ
