The Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust (MRTT) invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Practitioner: Hospitality Studies on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

23 September 2026 | The Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust Hospitality and Tourism Academy (MRTT HTA) concluded the three-day induction for participants enrolled in the CATHSSETA-funded Apprenticeship Programme.

Day 3 focused on preparing learners for their journey into the workplace. Learners received valuable guidance on financial responsibilities, career pathways in Hospitality and Culinary Arts, training conditions, workplace etiquette and workplace readiness.

The programme also featured engagements with SAPS and FNB, who shared important information on safety, responsible behaviour, police clearance and financial wellness.

The induction concluded with learners receiving their workplace rosters and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in preparation for workplace exposure.

MRTT HTA wishes the new cohort well as they embark on their three-year Culinary Arts training journey. May this journey be filled with learning, growth and meaningful opportunities.

On 22 September 2026, the Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust (MRTT) KaBokweni Training Centre came together to celebrate Arbor Month under the theme, “Rooted in Action and Growing a Sustainable Future.”

The event brought together staff, learners and community members in a meaningful celebration of environmental responsibility.

As part of the Arbor Month activities, participants planted trees and took part in beautifying the centre’s facilities, contributing towards a greener, healthier and more welcoming learning environment.

The trees planted today are an investment in tomorrow — providing shade, cleaner air and lasting beauty for generations to come.

CALL FOR QUALIFIED ARTISANS

The Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust (MRTT) invites suitably qualified artisans residing in Mpumalanga to submit their CVs and qualifications for inclusion in the MRTT Artisan Database.

Trades and areas include Electrical, Plumbing, Bricklaying, Carpentry, Painting, Plastering/Tiling, Welding/Boiler Making, Agriculture, Hospitality, Culinary, and Facilitators/Assessors/Moderators.

Applicants must meet the minimum requirements and provide the required supporting documents.

Closing Date: 30 October 2026

Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust Hospitality and Tourism Academy (MRTT HTA) welcomed CATHSSETA-funded apprenticeship participants on Day 1 of their three-day induction programme.

The induction programme provided participants with an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the training environment and gain valuable insights into their upcoming training journey.

HTA Management extended a warm welcome, while experienced practitioners shared words of encouragement and guided learners on what to expect throughout their apprenticeship.

The Quality Assurance team outlined its role in maintaining training standards and supporting the quality of the learning process, while Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) highlighted the importance of responsible conduct, workplace safety and professionalism.

As the programme funder, CATHSSETA delivered an informative presentation covering the apprenticeship programme, including the roles and responsibilities of the SETA, learners, training provider and employer, among other important topics.

MRTT HTA looks forward to supporting these participants as they develop valuable skills, gain practical workplace experience and prepare for meaningful careers in the hospitality and tourism sector.

As part of Arbor Month 2026, the Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust (MRTT) today, 15 September 2026, continued its commitment to environmental sustainability through an informative presentation and tree-planting activity at the Hospitality and Tourism Academy.

The session highlighted the importance of trees, environmental conservation and the value of indigenous plant species.

The tree-planting activity brought staff and learners together in taking practical action towards a greener future.

Today, staff and learners at the Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust (MRTT) Emalahleni Training Centre came together to commemorate Arbor Month through the planting of trees under this year’s theme:

“Rooted in Action and Growing a Sustainable Future.”

Arbor Month is an annual environmental initiative that highlights the vital importance of trees, the protection of biodiversity, environmental conservation, and the promotion of sustainable development within our communities.

Guided by this year’s theme, MRTT employees and learners joined hands on the ground to plant trees and contribute towards creating a greener, healthier, more welcoming and peaceful working and learning environment at the Centre.

It was a day filled with teamwork, laughter, learning and a shared commitment to environmental responsibility.

MRTT looks forward to continuing the Arbor Month celebrations at HTA and Kabokweni.

Yesterday, on the 1st of September 2026, the Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust (MRTT) was honored to participate in Day 1 of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature’s flagship initiative, "Taking the Legislature to the People" (TLP), held at Themba Sinamela Stadium in Middelburg (Steve Tshwete Local Municipality).
Today’s session focused on engaging the public on critical service delivery matters and outlining progress across the province.

MRTT plays a vital, practical role in service delivery as the skills implementation engine for the provincial government. While municipal leaders address infrastructure, water, and electricity challenges, MRTT develops the skilled human capital needed to fix and sustain those essential services.

Economic exclusion remains a main driver of community frustration. By offering accredited learnerships, short-skills programs, and QCTO/SETA-aligned trade tests, MRTT transitions unemployed youth out of dependency and directly into the mainstream economy.
