Grooming our little angels for big school in a relaxed homely enviroment The school is currently looking for sponsors for a jungle gym and slide.
Grooming Angels is a daycare centre based at the heart of Selborne, not far from both town and Vincent, making it accessable to those with or without transport as it is a stone's throw away from Clarendon High and the Chiselhurst Sasol Garage. The daycare was founded in April of 2014 by a single mother after struggling to find n affordable creche that would have that homely setting where one wou
ld not have to rush from work, out oof meetings to fetch their little one to avoid paying penalties for fetching their child after 5pm as the school is based in a home but takes the front wing of the house thus making it convenient for mommies and daddies to do their shopping and put those pots before fetching their bundle of joy from school. It also became clear that creches were overly priced at R1400 per child with ridiculous registration fees for classes having up to 25 kids per class and thus making it difficult for educators to identify learning and health problems early, relate and interact with your little one. To combat this problem, classes are kept at a minimumm of 10 children per class and daily report sheets on each childs activity, behaviour, ect, for each day. This then helps you as a parent know what milestones your child has achieved, where there are shortcomings and just the general behaviour and personality your child has at school. Another problem identified was the lack of acceptance to grade 1 when the time came for your little one to start real school, and Grooming Angels is proud to have formed a partnership with the likes of Ariston Christian School in Cambridge (previously in Gonubie) and the Light House school in Kwelera for their grade R learners upwards. Entry to these schools is not automatic but is guaranteed once an application form has been filled indicating that your chid is from Grooming angles. We offer a 3 meals a day, starting from breakfast to lunch, all parents have to bring is some yorghut and fruit for afternoon snack. The school prides itself with qualified educators with two main languages of instruction: English and Xhosa. All recruitments are dine by the parent executive committtee, to ensure that parents start playing an active role in their children's education from an early age. Sporting activities have also been included at no extra cost for most of them as the school has its own freshwater pool, with no chemicals in it. Currently the school has 6 learners aged between one and four years of age. Fees for 2015 will increase from R950 per month to R1050. The school has notbeen without its own ups and downs, one major problem was keeping teachers due to the salary and hense the fees have to unfortunately increase as at next year. The founder of the school had to use all fees to pay staff and from her own pocket buy healthy food stuffs for the little ones with a menu designed by a professional dietitian from 'Zest for Life" This however does not deter the efforts and mission and vision of the school as the founder's three year old is also a scholar at the creche.
