As part of our theme, Pets, Their Homes and Their Young theme, our Phase 2 learners enjoyed a very special hands-on experience meeting a variety of pets! 🐰🐹🐦🐍

The learners had the opportunity to see and learn about a snake, hamster, bunny, bird, bearded dragon and guinea pig.

Experiences like these help bring learning to life and encourage curiosity, communication and a love for animals. Our learners thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of our furry, feathered and scaly visitors! 💙✨

On Wednesday, the Phase 3 learners enjoyed an exciting visit from Finny Flipper as part of our Pets, Their Homes and Their Young theme.

The learners had the opportunity to meet a variety of animals, including a bird, snake, bunny, bearded dragon, and hamster.

The visit provided a fun and interactive learning experience that helped bring our classroom theme to life. It was wonderful to see the learners' curiosity, enthusiasm, and confidence as they engaged with the animals and asked questions throughout the session. 🐹🐰🐍🦎🐦

On Tuesday, Phase R & 1 learners enjoyed a special visit from Finny Flipper as part of our Pets, Their Homes and Their Young theme.

The learners had the opportunity to meet and learn about a variety of animals, including a bird, a snake, a bunny, and a bearded dragon.

💙 Celebrating International Makaton Awareness Day at College Street School! 💙

Today, we celebrated Makaton and alternative means of communication with a fun and interactive Makaton Hunt! 🔎🤟

Our learners searched around the school for hidden Makaton symbols and, once they found them, were challenged to sign the symbol they discovered!

It was a wonderful opportunity to promote communication, inclusion and participation, while showing that communication can happen in many different ways. 🗣️🤟💬

At College Street School, we believe that every learner deserves a voice and a way to communicate. ❤️

Senior Phase learners had an exciting visit to Gravity Trampoline Park on Thursday and Friday! 🎉

The learners had a fantastic time bouncing, jumping, and enjoying all the fun activities the trampoline park had to offer. It was a wonderful opportunity to build confidence, develop gross motor skills, and most importantly, have lots of fun with friends.

🚑👩‍🚒 People Who Help Us & Career Dress-Up Day! 👨‍⚕️👮‍♀️

On Friday, Foundation Phase had an exciting Career Dress-Up Day as part of our “People Who Help Us” theme! 🌟

Our little learners dressed up as the people they would like to be when they grow up - from doctors and nurses to firefighters, police officers, teachers and so many more! 👩‍⚕️👨‍🚒👮‍♂️👩‍🏫

To make the day even more special, we were delighted to welcome Red Alert Medical Services and their ambulance! 🚑❤️ Our learners had the opportunity to meet paramedics, learn about the important work they do, and get a closer look at an ambulance.

It was a wonderful day filled with learning, imagination and lots of smiles! 🌈✨

On Friday, we celebrated 154 incredible years of College Street! 🏫💙

To make the day extra special, our staff and learners embraced the Alphabet Challenge, dressing up as the first letter of their name or surname. 🔤✨

For Mandela Day 2026, College Street School proudly embraced the spirit of service by making a difference in our community.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our learners, parents, staff, and supporters, we collected ingredients to prepare Jars of Hope and cooked delicious, nourishing soup for those in need.

Our Phase 6 learners thoroughly enjoyed working together to assemble the Jars of Hope before personally delivering them to the Buffalo Flats Crisis Centre. The centre provides rehabilitation and support to individuals struggling with addiction, while also making regular contributions to local soup kitchens, extending hope to many throughout our community.

What makes this organisation even more inspiring is its story. The land on which the Buffalo Flats Crisis Centre now stands was once a neglected dumpsite. Through dedication, hard work, and vision, it was adopted, cleaned, and transformed into a place of hope, healing, and restoration.

A heartfelt thank you to every learner, parent, staff member, and donor who contributed towards this outreach. Your kindness and generosity made this initiative a wonderful success and reminded us that even the smallest act of service can have a lasting impact.
