Thank You - NATE’S CAR SALES! ⚽

We extend our appreciation to Nate from Nate's Car Sales for a spectacular and generous donation of brand-new sports equipment, which arrived just as our school closed for the term 3 holidays!

A special thank you to our support staff, who were readily available onsite to warmly receive the delivery and capture these wonderful photographs of the handover.

This donation is a boost for Southernwood Primary School. Quality sports equipment plays an important role in the development of our learners.

With this new gear, our sports programmes will allow our children to discover and nurture their athletic talents.

Thank you, Nate's Car Sales, for investing in our youth and driving our school's development forward! 🚗✨

🧮🌟 24 SUMMORE Maths Challenge 🌟🧮

Since the beginning of Term 2, our Intermediate Phase learners have been participating in the 24 SUMMORE Maths Challenge which is an exciting card game that challenges players to use the four mathematical operations to make a total of 24 using all four numbers on a card.

The game encourages quick thinking, problem-solving, confidence, and a love for Mathematics, while providing plenty of fun along the way

After several rounds of competition, six of our top learners were selected to compete in the school finals. From this group, two outstanding learners earned the opportunity to represent Southernwood Primary School in the semi-finals against learners from other schools in our area.

Congratulations to Carl Boatey and Alunamida Nobavu.

We are proud of your achievement and wish you success as you represent our school at the semi-finals to be held at Merrifield Preparatory School on 3 August 2026. We know that you will make Southernwood Primary proud.

The competition is proudly sponsored by Peregrine Capital, South Africa's longest-running hedge fund manager, with a range of exciting prizes up for grabs.

Our school grounds were filled with big smiles, as families came together to spend meaningful time with their children. It was heartwarming to see so many moms, dads, and loved ones availing themselves to share in a day of connection and togetherness.

From conversations to delicious treats enjoyed under beautiful weather, the atmosphere was consumed with happiness. The laughter echoed through the school which reminded us of just how important family involvement are in the lives of our learners.

The pictures truly speak for themselves, capturing the joy, love, and memories created throughout the day. 📸❤️

Thank you to all our families who took the time to join us and make the day so memorable. We are grateful to have shared such a beautiful occasion with you and look forward to many more moments together as a school family.

Developing Road Safety

On 13 May 2026, our scholar patrol learners took part in training designed to build important road safety and leadership skills.

They practised safe road crossing, hand signals, and working together as a team, all under staff guidance.

The session gave learners a chance to learn by doing, helping them become more confident and aware of how to keep others safe around busy school areas.

It was an enjoyable and practical experience as they prepare to take on this important responsibility before and after school.
