The newly furnished gym at Hudson Park High School opened its doors on Thursday, 23rd May with a special ceremony attended by the School Governing Body.

Dr Jo Batting, the SGB Chairperson, led the proceedings, marking the official opening of the gym.

The school expressed its gratitude to Strata GeoCivils and CrossFit East London for their generous sponsorship, which made the new gym a reality.

Learners and staff alike are excited about the upgraded facilities and are looking forward to utilizing the gym equipment for fitness and well-being.

We are incredibly excited to announce that Grade 12 learner, Jamie Goodall - a trombonist, has made it to the finals of the Yamaha Young Soloists Competition.

The competition is a national competition open to classical and jazz instrumentalists between the ages of 7 and 25 years old.

Round 1 for all categories, was held from 1 to 12 April 2024. Round 2, for the intermediate and senior musicians, was held from 6 May 2024 to 11 May 2024 at adjudication centres in the various regions. Round 3, the Gala Events for intermediate and senior finalists, will be held on 3 June 2024 for the Classical section and 4 June 2024 for the Jazz section at World of YAMAHA Theatre in Johannesburg.

BORDER HOCKEY

The teams have been confirmed and we are extremely proud to announce that Hudson has no less than 24 hockey players representing Border Schools Hockey this year.

During the June school holidays, the A teams will be participating in the IPTs taking place in Bloemfontein, while the B teams will be participating at the Regional tournaments at various locations.

We wish all of our representatives the best of luck for their upcoming IPTs.

Hudson Park High School is proud to announce that Mr Lwazi Zangqa, our Head of Sport, has acquired his World Rugby Level 3 Accreditation (15s).

This is provided by World Rugby, the international governing body for the sport of rugby union.

It signifies a high level of coaching expertise and is typically attained by coaches who aspire to work with elite-level players and teams.

EISTEDDFOD

Hudson Park musicians demonstrated their class over the past two weeks at the Port Rex Lions Eisteddfod.

Our Music Department accumulated 3 Bronze; 10 Silver; 27 Gold and 16 Special Mention awards.
They also won the most medal categories in the high school section.

CSA Schools Indaba - held at Bela-Bela in Limpopo

Hudson Park High School (represented by Mr Viwe Tongo), was honoured to be invited to the cricket Indaba. The invitation was due to the number of provincial players which the school has produced over the past years.

The purpose of the indaba was to discuss the 2026 u19 Cricket World Cup, as well as to strategize on the way forward to a South African victory at the World Cup.
