A proud moment for the country's human settlements sector as Minister Thembi Simelane officially launches the Institute of Human Settlements Practitioners - South Africa (IHSP-SA) at Nelson Mandela University today.

This is a significant step towards professionalising the sector, fostering innovation and advancing sustainable human settlements.

The IHSP-SA launch also marked the start of the Pan-African City Symposium and Exposition (PASCE), which is jointly hosted by the University, IHSP-SA and the US-Africa Collaborative. The Symposium is a landmark gathering held under the theme "Smart Futures: From Smart Villages to Smart Economies - Exploring Models that Create Resilient, Equitable, Regenerative and Thriving Communities".

It brings together leaders, practitioners, researchers and policymakers from across Africa and beyond to explore innovative approaches to sustainable human settlements and development.
