From the Class of 1944
To the Principal, Staff and Students,
Congratulations Clarendon on your special occasion of your birthday. Had there been a Reunion gathering this year, it would have been my 77th as an "Old Girl!" My best wishes to you all for the future.
Sue Properjohn (Ethel Moll)
Head Girl 1944.

A very Happy Foundersโ€™ Day. My 77th reunion has been cancelled due to the Covid. I was in the class of 1944.
Kindest regards, Zava Robinson (nee Katz)

The Class of 1951 (70-year Reunion)

The Old Girlsโ€™ Guild would like to congratulate this small group of Old Girls for celebrating their 70th year since writing their Matric. It includes our very own Joan (Harrison) Breetzke, famous for winning Gold for Swimming at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki; and also a stalwart of the OGG Committee, Avril (Kinnell) Schreuder. They have kept in touch with a couple of others from their class in East London too. Well done on reaching this milestone, ladies!

From the Class of 1961

The Matric Class of 1961 sends congratulations to Mrs Patrick, Staff and Girls for the way they have kept up the standard at the school, despite the challenges during the past year and a half. As a group we would have enjoyed sharing in this celebration with you (being our 60th year out of school), but as we are not able to do so, we would also like to wish the Matric Class of 2021 success in their forthcoming Final Examinations.
To the girls: With the grounding you have received at Clarendon High School for Girls, you are able to face the World with confidence. Go Out and Live Your Dreams. To the girls in the other grades, every year is a challenge to do your best and achieve your potential.

From the Class of 1970 (missed their 50th Reunion last year)

Thinking of all students and staff in these challenging times and have a very happy Foundersโ€™ Day.
With best wishes,
Susan Bryant/Colquhoun Head Girl 1970.

To the Principal, Teachers and Pupils,
Wishing you a happy 118th birthday, Clarendon. I have wonderful memories of my alma mater and I have made life-long friends who are all so special. Students, treasure your years at Clarendon. It is an amazing school with excellent teachers. Join the Old Girls' Guild when you leave. Good luck to the Matrics - it's been a trying year for you all.
Gail Cornelius Ge**er. Class of 1970 (Co-ordinator)

As we celebrate another period in lockdown here in Sydney, it affords one time to reflect on the wonderful years we were privileged to enjoy at Clarendon. A great education, amazing girls, and so many special memories, not to forget awful green starched hats, gyms that had to be 4 inches from the ground when kneeling, so as not to reveal too much leg and ensure our modesty, (which we hoisted up as far as we could with our stiff girdles that were worked on like the hats, to get them to be more pliable to do our bidding!)A uniform however does not make a school, and if those were our main gripes, then we were indeed truly blessed to have been Clarriebags! Happy birthday Clarendon, and may you continue to inspire exceptional students, who all leave with the same incredible rich memories, good values and special friendships, as we, in the class of 1970 experienced.
Michele Brandenburger (nรฉe Alexander)

Happy Birthday dear Clarendon, Staff, Learners, Parents and Old Girls. Although our class of 1970 is still unable to enjoy a reunion, my thoughts are with you today. You young ladies are living in a very different world to what we knew so many years ago, but I am confident that you are being equipped with all the skills necessary to succeed and overcome any obstacles in your way.
Take care, stay safe and God Bless
Brenda (Hunt) Lawrence

To all our young Clarriebags
Treasure your education!
Hold your heads high
Consider your integrity paramount
Be the best you can be
And always remember to be humble!!
With love from a 1970 Matric Old Girl,
Deo Eddy-Els

Happy Foundersโ€™ Day, dear Clarendon!
I find it very hard to believe that this year will be the 51st year after Matric, for all of us who matriculated in 1970. Thank you for the 10 wonderful years I spent at Clarendon Starting in 1961 (Std 1, now Grade 3!)! I made many lasting friends many of whom I still see today! Thank you for giving me such a solid foundation which I hope I passed on to the many children I taught! May you continue to flourish and continue to produce the cream of the crop, future leaders and business folk for many years to come!
Regards, Gail Wilson ( nee Cockcroft)

This is my memory for Clarendonโ€™s Foundersโ€™ Day ...
Wonderful happy years at this wonderful school with a special history from 1966-1968 & making lifelong friends that I still have today.
From Catherine Beresford-Wood

I'm from the Class of 1970.... part of a fantastic group of girls. I still hold many memories of a very happy time spent at Clarendon. Congratulations and Happy Birthday to Clarendon, I wish the students and staff a very happy day.
With love, from Lorna Gardner (nee Properjohn)

Happy Birthday to the wonderful Clarendon family!
So many great memories were made and friendships developed at our great school.
Warm regards, Jean Rostance Viljoen 1970

From the Class of 1971 (50-year Reunion)

Congrats on your 118th birthday! This was supposed to be our 50th year reunion (which isnโ€™t happening )! Thinking of the Class of 1971!!
Bev Lister (nรฉe Butler) Head Girl and the girls of โ€˜71

Our Class of 1981 celebrates our 40 year reunion this year.

The 5-year spells between gathering to celebrate Clarendonโ€™s birthday seem to get shorter and our proximity to the front of the venue so much closer (which always gives us both pause for thought as well as some wry shared smiles).

In the interceding years, as we live and work, we also watch with a real sense of pride as Clarendon continues to embody excellence in all she works to build and achieve. In all the traditional ways of academic and sporting and cultural achievements which are often easier to quantify, but even more importantly, in her human capital. The young women who are privileged to learn in her classrooms and walk in her corridors are encouraged to work hard. And they are also mentored to be seen and heard as they embody the words of our Nationโ€™s Father, Nelson Mandela, that โ€œEducation is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.โ€ And we see them. And at no time in our history has that been more important.

The storm in which we all find ourselves continues to be a time which calls on us to stand up. To stand up โ€ฆ for information over misinformation, for service over self, for bravery in our decisions, for kindness to others and for us to help wherever possible to build rather than destroy.

So, on this Foundersโ€™ Day, Clarendon, for all the ways in which you stand up, we send you all our love and gratitude and our very best wishes โ€ฆ until we can meet again.

Cheryl (Attree) Eltringham - Head Girl, Natalie (Pike) van Wyk โ€“ Deputy, and the Class of 1981

Class of 1991 (30-year Reunion)

Greetings from the class of 1991. Thirty years have gone by in a flash! And yet, so much has happened. I eagerly follow the social media posts of my classmates and cannot believe how far flung folks are and what beautiful experiences, families and relationships they have been blessed with. We have classmates spread all over South Africa and living in the UK, Australia, and even Norway, to name but a few! There are some unbelievably strong and courageous ladies out there who have faced adversity and come out stronger on the other side, and we can be grateful for the foundations we received in our schooling years at Clarendon, and the lifelong friendships that have been formed.

Clarendon continues to assist in forming influential women, and it is wonderful to follow the news that comes from the school of achievements in academic, sporting, cultural and many more spheres. It is a privilege to have been part of the Clarendon family.

Alas! Covid has definitely put a damper on reunion experiences, but my prayer is that we will be able to meet together soon again, and that we can cherish our families and be blessed with health and happiness.

Work and hope... trust and know the plans and purposes for your lives. Until we can meet again in person, much love from the Class of 1991.

Class of 2001 has a video presentation (20-year Reunion)

Class of 2011 (10-year Reunion)

Congratulations Clarendon High on your Foundersโ€™ Day.
Unfortunately the 10 year reunion class could not be with you to celebrate, due to Covid-19.
Nelson Mandela said, โ€œEducation is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. โ€œ May Clarendon continue to provide exceptional education to young women, empowering them to change the world for many more years to come.
Megan (Cook) Balshaw - Head Girl
Class of 2011

Beautiful poem, Sam!

Message from our Chairlady, Barbi Harrison:

The Clarendon OGG is sad to record the passing away of a wonderful English teacher from the High School - Mrs Liz Hill (from the 1990's to 2014) - who succumbed to cancer last night - after fighting it so bravely and with much faith. Sympathy to her family, Alan, daughter Julie (2003) and Matthew, and their family - and to her circle of close friends, many of whom are connected to Clarendon. Our hearts are broken but she is at peace with her Lord. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’”
