👩👨🦰🧔PREP PARENT MORNING🧔👨🦰👩
We love having our parents on campus and this morning, our Preppies hosted their parents, to show them what they have been up to in the classroom this busy term!

👩🎓ALUMNI NEWS👩🎓
It is always great to have past students visiting our campus and supporting Merrifield events! Alumni, Alyssa Miles and Michaela Joubert both from the Class of 2023, supported the Potjie Competition and Sokkie last night. Both are thriving, with Alyssa currently in her 2nd year of Law at Nelson Mandela University and Michaela, in her 2nd year at The University of Stellenbosch, studying BComm Financial Management.

🌎GEOGRAPHY🌏
Our Grade 11s were able to study Economic Geography practically, by looking at businesses in the different sectors of the economy: Primary - Farm, Secondary the factory and tertiary the boat tour/ restaurant. They visited Blueberry Hills Farm to see how green peppers grow. It was very interesting to see how technical the growth process is in controlled greenhouses. The students also found it interesting hearing about trade & transport at our harbour and getting a view of East London from the sea via a boat trip.

👩🎓SACEE ENGLISH OLYMPIAD👩🎓
Congratulations to Grade 12 student, Amara Odugwu, who has reached the top 12 students, in both government and independent schools, for the SACEE National English Olympiad. To reach the prestigious top 12 nationally, she had to study the anthology of 20 pieces and then write a discussive essay and transactional piece. We wish Amara well as she travels to Makhanda next week for the award ceremony to find out her final place in the competition.

🎤🌟🎹PREP MUSIC MAYHEM🎹🌟🎤
A highly anticipated annual event, Music Mayhem, did not disappoint the crowds! Well done to all of our performers, who displayed a wide range of talents, from solo singing and piano artists, to the choirs and marimba bands, drum performances, and a highlight being a surprise performance from the Prep staff! Well done to all involved!

Merrifield Prep School and College
Merrifield Preparatory School and College, rooted in the Eastern Cape, prides itself on not only producing future-proof, aware and resilient students, but also on growing and nurturing each individual while at a formative stage of their development. With over 700 students enrolled currently at the East London campus, from Grade 000 to Grade 12, Merrifield has grown from strength to strength since 1997 when founding parents envisioned the school as a leading light in independent education in the province. 100% of Merrifield Matric students over the years have gained not only IEB matric passes but also university passes as well. It is not only academic excellence that is held in high esteem at Merrifield. Teamwork and camaraderie within the student body is balanced against individual excellence and achievement within the Sport, Cultural and Academic programmes offered. There is a delicate balance to be struck between nurturing each individual student and encouraging leadership and independence. At Merrifield, staff and parents work together to achieve this in the raising and encouraging of our students, each of whom matter, and all of whom are cared for and urged to reach their own potentials.
