“I am because you are.” This powerful African proverb lies at the heart of the newly launched Ubuntu Crowdfunding Campaign by the Fort Hare Foundation (FHF).

Unveiled on Friday, 28 February 2025, the campaign seeks to address the urgent needs of students facing financial distress. It also seeks to alleviate student debt. These needs include bursaries, study materials, food, and self-care hygiene products, such as sanitary towels.

Through this initiative, FHF also aims to foster a culture of philanthropy among Fortharians.

The Fort Hare Foundation is offering a full Merit Bursary for students pursuing their Honours Degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Statistics at the University of Fort Hare in 2025.

✅ Admitted to the University of Fort Hare for the 2025 academic year.
✅ South African citizen.
✅ Good academic record with a minimum of 60%.
✅ Financially needy.
✅ Not holding any other bursary.

📄 Motivation letter.
📄 2024 academic record.
📄 Certified copy of your Matric Certificate.
📄 Proof of income or affidavit.

The Fort Hare Foundation (FHF) has once again demonstrated the power of collective support and shared purpose. During the Chancellor’s Annual Fundraising Golf Day and Gala Dinner, an incredible R700,340.90 was raised to advance the University of Fort Hare’s strategic initiatives.
Held at the prestigious East London Golf Course on 23 August 2024, the day saw 112 golfers teeing off in high spirits, followed by an elegant Gala Dinner at Hemingways Casino.

The funds—generated through sponsorships, donations, and an exciting auction—are a testament to the unwavering dedication of alumni, sponsors, and supporters. Together, we are shaping the future of the University of Fort Hare and empowering the next generation of leaders.
