World Sauntering Day is celebrated on June 19 every year.

To “saunter” means to walk in a slow, relaxed, and casual manner, without any rush, anxiety, or specific effort to get somewhere quickly.

The purpose is to remind people to slow down and enjoy life as opposed to rushing through it 🐢

In a world that moves so fast, we love leaning into the art of slow, intentional play. When we give little ones the time to just be, to examine that stick, stack those blocks at their own pace, or daydream over a puzzle, the magic happens. No timers, no agendas, just pure,
unhurried wonder.

Let us try to slow our steps and saunter through playtime together.

According to UNICEF South Africa International Day of Play is a time to celebrate the power of play.

Play is essential for every child’s development and well-being. It builds creativity, resilience, and social skills, laying the groundwork for lifelong learning.

We encourage you to take part wherever you are. Whether it’s trying out new play ideas with your children or helping raise awareness with your friends, families and networks about the power of play.

And remember every day is an opportunity for playful moments! Sometimes you don’t need to buy the toys, just make the time!

Protect play, protect childhood.
