To Every Kind of Mom

Today, we celebrate the women who shape hearts, steady storms, pack lunchboxes at lightning speed and somehow still remember where the missing rugby sock is hiding.

To the women raising boys with courage, kindness, humour and love…
To the early morning encouragers, sideline supporters, homework helpers and biggest cheerleaders…

We see you. We thank you. We celebrate you.

The love, strength, patience and care you pour into your children ripple far beyond the classroom walls and sports fields. You are helping raise good young men and for that, we are deeply grateful.

From all of us at DPHS, we wish every mother and mother figure a beautiful Mother’s Day filled with love, laughter, spoils and perhaps even a hot cup of coffee for once.

Our DPHS 1st Rugby Team has arrived at Trinityhouse for the prestigious Toshiba U13 National Rugby Festival and the excitement is building!

This incredible tour gives our boys the opportunity to test themselves against some of the top rugby schools in the country, experience the atmosphere of national festival rugby, and continue growing both on and off the field. From the camaraderie of touring together to competing at a high level, these are the moments that help prepare our boys for the exciting journey into high school rugby.

Most importantly, they are looking forward to doing what they love most... pulling on the DPHS jersey and spending more time out on the field together.

📍 Festival Fixtures:

🏉 Thursday 7 May
DPHS vs Lynwood

🏉 Friday 8 May
KEPS vs DPHS

🏉 Saturday 9 May
Trinityhouse vs DPHS

A huge thank you to Trinityhouse for hosting what promises to be an outstanding festival of rugby. We wish our boys and staff an unforgettable experience and all the very best for the weekend ahead.

Play hard, back each other, and make Prep proud!

Special Visitors…

There was a noticeable buzz around campus today… and for once, it wasn’t just the sound of break time.

A few rather recognisable figures in green and gold were spotted making their way across the fields at DPHS… and let’s just say, word travels quickly when Springbok jerseys are involved.

We were honoured to welcome Ox Nché, Grant Williams, Andre Esterhuizen and Ethan Ho**er to Prep today.

As you can imagine, concentration levels may have dipped ever so slightly…
(We suspect a few “water breaks” lasted longer than usual!)

A huge thank you to our special guests for taking the time to visit, your presence created unforgettable moments for our boys and plenty of wide-eyed excitement.

We will just say this…today’s lessons may not all have been from the classroom.

Junior Tennis Tour to Bethlehem

Our DPHS junior tennis squad has returned from a fantastic week on tour, where the boys faced strong opposition and rose to the challenge with determination and grit.

There was some tough, high-quality tennis throughout and we are especially proud of how our A team stepped up, finishing an impressive 4th out of 16 in the A Division. Our B team also showed great perseverance, securing 11th place out of 24 in the B Division.

Well done to all our players for the way you represented DPHS, both on and off the court. Your sportsmanship, resilience and team spirit made us incredibly proud!

A heartfelt thank you to the parents who travelled with the team. Your presence, encouragement and unwavering support on the side-lines meant so much to the boys throughout the tour.

Our Grade R pupils celebrated their very first House Dress Day, proudly arriving in their House kit with big smiles and great excitement!

Adding to the special occasion, our House and Vice-Captains joined our house meetings to chat with the younger boys. The atmosphere quickly filled with enthusiasm as each house joined in with a spirited war cry showdown that echoed with pride and camaraderie.

The celebrations concluded on a high note as the Grade R boys ran through the Captains’ tunnel, a moment of pure joy and school spirit that will certainly be remembered as a highlight of their morning and for years to come!

Rugby vs Glenwood Prep

Another fantastic afternoon of rugby at DPHS as we welcomed Glenwood Prep for one of the highlights of our season.

This longstanding fixture is always one we look forward to, celebrating not only healthy competition on the field but also the special relationship shared between our two schools.

From the opening whistle to the final play, our boys embraced every moment, enjoying the opportunity to stay active, play hard and do what they love.

Thank you to Glenwood Prep for another memorable day of rugby, sportsmanship and tradition.

World Book Day at DPHS was a wonderful celebration of reading, imagination and storytelling across our school.

Our Grade R boys set the tone for the day as they arrived in style, proudly dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing colour, creativity and excitement to campus. Their celebrations included a special book reading and picnic shared with our Grade 4 boys, creating meaningful moments of connection through the joy of stories.

For our Grade 4 boys, the day was equally memorable as they brought literature to life through their vibrant book character parade and embraced the opportunity to share their love of reading with the younger boys. Their involvement highlighted the important role older pupils play in nurturing a passion for books within our school community.

Adding to the magic of the day, we were delighted to welcome Darren Maule from East Coast Radio, whose surprise appearance brought great excitement, along with local author and DPHS mom, Ros Toerien from The LEARN Project, who inspired our boys through a special reading.
