Fourteen of our Grade 8 learners were invited by South Durban Community Environmental Alliance to participate in an Environmental Education Engagement session on 27 August 2026. The theme for the session was Kick Polluters Out of Our Coastline
The presentations by the speakers created awareness on how major petroleum industries are harming and polluting our oceans, coastline and destroying our marine ecosystems.
Our learners participated by making posters and spoke on how pollution is destroying the marine ecosystem.
The learners were given water testing kits and they tested a sample of drinking water taken from school as well as sea water taken from Addington Beach.
Overall it was an informative and learning experience for our learners.

The Grade 12 Consumer Studies learners embarked on an enriching educational excursion to the 1000 Hills Chefs School. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for learners to gain first-hand insight into the professional culinary industry and the training required to pursue a career in hospitality and food preparation.
During the visit, the learners enjoyed a guided tour of the chefs’ school, where they explored the state-of-the-art training facilities, professional kitchens, and learning spaces.
A highlight of the day was an engaging and informative presentation on Western dining etiquette by Aunty D. Learners were taught the principles of formal table manners, including correct table settings, the appropriate use of cutlery, dining etiquette, and the importance of professionalism and confidence in formal dining situations.
To conclude the experience, the learners enjoyed a beautifully prepared three-course meal, allowing them to experience fine dining while putting their newly acquired etiquette skills into practice.
The excursion was both educational and inspiring.
