As part of the University community and Nationally we want to express our deepest condolences to the Mrwetyana family, friends and the University of Cape Town community for the tragic loss of Uyinene Mrwetyana and call upon all MEN starting in our Universities and globally that we'll not allow under our watch or commitment by ourselves of this despicable acts committed by people who call themselves man, now and in the future.

The Department wishes to take this opportunity to wish all DUTstudents as they beginning to write their final year exams well and that they would apply themselves very well in preparing for exams, and to wish them safe journey back home after exams, and those who'll be writing their final exams and graduating next year sll the best on their news endeavours and the new world that'll be opening up for them. Thank all the support one has received from all though we had difficult times and various challenges and that through God's grace we are coming coming to an end. Those that find themselves ill-prepared, that's not the end, don't take your life, talk to the room/res mate, your RA, the office of Res Life, staff member or to Student Counselling.
