'If she sees you reading, she will understand that reading is valuable' - Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche
At Kwasukasukela we believe that reading is an important empowerment tool. As we observe INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD, we encourage you to read to the girls in your care and community. They will never forget your gift of empowerment and education.

The English translation for 'amahloni' is being embarrassed, being shy and feeling awkward, etc.
It took me a long time to accept that the book sales are not going to fall like manna from the sky🤦♀️that I'm going to need to get outside of my comfort zone to attract my customers and get my amazing products into their hands, no matter how shy and awkward I feel. Hard lesson learnt😁

As a mom of 3, I know that bedtime is only great because of storytime 📚😅with the hectic routines that our children have, bedtime stories are one of the only times in the day where there are no distractions and we can truly be still and connect with them📚❤️📚
Why not add the fun and adventurous stories of uDoobsy (Isifundo SikaDoobsy) and uSiyamthanda (Khumbula Isithembiso) to your kiddies reading list.
Our books can be purchased via DM, our email - [email protected], WhataApp on 0814542182 or

National Book Week Special 📚🤓
Compatriots…please excuse me if I’m a little biased and overly excited about tonight’s live! I am hosting my fake twin (our birth story is wild) and baby sister…somebody say SCREAM!!!
I can go on and on and on about her but we are not here for that. We are here to celebrate her writing and publishing journey and career.
My sister (yes, I’m going to be that girl) is a co-founder and director of Kwasukasukela Cosi. Kwasukasukela is a publishing company that creates, prints and distributes children’s books written in South African indigenous languages. The company was founded after Xolile and her partner identified a lack of indigenous language children’s literature in mainstream literature in SA.
My sister and her partner really wanted their young kids to learn to read Zulu and so the company was born in 2018. They have two books that they created and published which are: Isifundo sikaDoobsy and Khumbula Isithembiso.
Big announcement: their Zulu Bible “Ibhayibheli Lezingane” is going to be launched later this year! I cannot wait!
I’ve had the opportunity to work with Kwasukasukela when they launched their first book in 2018. I’ve also distributed for them in JHB so this live is pay back for all the favours I have done for them…I kid!
I am excited to share my sister on a different level with everyone. We usually share family related content but today we are taking things a notch up.
Playing our part in developing a reading nation.

reading to her little one reminds us that your mother tongue is vital in framing our children thinking and emotions.
Learning to speak in your mother tongue is very important for our children overall development.
Research indicates that mother tongue for a child involves more than just language, it includes the child’s personal and cultural identity. Being fluent in your mother tongue also aids in learning of other languages.

LET US RE-INTRODUCE OURSELVES.
Sanibonani, Molweni, Dumelang Avuxeni, Aa, Salibonani
We are Kwasukasukela- “kunomthelela kuthi lokho esikufundayo”
Kwasukasukela, a black female owned company that seeks to create and publish original children’s books written in South African indigenous languages.
Kwasukasukela creates authentic vernacular reading material for children that is fun and also serves to empower them as they perfect their mother tongue. We would love for our children to be proud of their African heritage.
That’s how our journey started, Kwasukasukela, an entity that produces vernacular books📚. We currently have two beautiful stories.
* Isifundo sikaDoobsy
* Khumbula Isithembiso!
To order, kindly send an email to [email protected] or WhatsApp us on 0840922065.
