UPGRADE YOUR MATRIC
Failing Matric or not being accepted into University is not the end of the world. It really isn’t. It will just take you slightly longer but you can improve your position. Futura College can help anyone in KZN achieve a matric certificate. Take the following 10 steps to secure your future.
1. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? Know you are not alone. Thousands of others are in the same jam and many thousands have been there before.
2. WHY DID I FAIL? Try and find out the reason you failed. Be honest with yourself. Did you study hard enough? Were you out socialising with your friends or watching TV? Did you think studying wasn’t ‘cool’? Did you participate throughout the year or did you just try and ‘catch up’ in the last few weeks? Did you think it was going to be easy? Did you just give up? Can you blame personal issues or illness?
3. YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR OWN LIFE and your own destiny (where you end up in the world). It’s not easy, but life’s not easy. No-one is going to knock on your door and present you with a fantastic job and a fabulous life. Not even the government!
4. WHAT NEXT? If you failed a few matric subjects, or you need better marks to get into university or enter an occupation, you can upgrade your matric with Futura College.
5. HOW CAN I DO IT? The first thing you need to do is change your attitude! You need to put yourself and your future first. The decisions you make now will affect the rest of your life.
6. WHERE DO I GO? Futura College offers both Online and Blended Learning classes for students who wish to upgrade their grade 12. Their campus is at 5 John Zikhali Road, Greyville, Durban Tel: 031 309 2019 for more info or email: [email protected]

HOW ONLINE CLASSES WORK
1. Before the start of the Academic Year students will be loaded onto the E-Campus.
2. You will be sent an email with your user name and password.
3. The email will include a direct link to the e-campus at www.futurahigh.co.za
4. Shortly thereafter you will receive a welcome email from Futura College.
5. You will log into the e-campus following the link and using the password.
6. Once you have successfully logged in you will see your subjects you registered for in your In-Box.
7. You will have access to your e-campus but not your subjects until the school’s start date is reached.
8. Once you start your course you will view your Welcome info, E-Teacher and Subject Outline.
9. The E-Teacher section will share the contact details for when you have questions for the subject teacher.
10. The subjects will be on a “daily release system” so you will only view what is due to be released that particular day.
11. Students will receive a timetable with the class times for each subject. The teacher will be available every school day to answer questions and provide explanations during these scheduled class times.
12. Before the lesson begins the class teacher will send a WhatsApp reminding the student the class is about to begin.
13. You would need to “Mark as Complete” each section to move forward with your course.
14. Each subject will have short multiple choice tests at the end of the lesson to assess the student understood the main points of the lesson.
15. As each section is marked complete and each test is completed a progress email is sent to both the student and the parent / guardian advising the section was successfully completed.
16. The day’s lessons could take the form of a PDF download, image, voice note or short video.
17. There is a “chat” feature to ask questions or you may also use the WhatsApp group for the subject. Where a question is asked outside of class times you will have to wait for the following day’s lesson for an explanation.
18. You may refer back to a previous day’s lesson as required.
19. You will receive an automated course notification to keep you on track with your subjects.
20. Learners choosing the Blended Learning option may attend twice weekly in-person classes for grade 12. Remote learners who have access to a broadband connection (high speed & unlimited data) may watch a live video feed of these classes at no extra fee.
EQUIPMENT
1. You may use a computer, laptop, tablet or phone to access the e-campus. We do recommend devices with larger screens to facilitate learning.
2. Students have different styles of learning however a printer can be useful although not essential.
3. Where the teacher asks for work to be submitted a photo or saved document can be sent.
4. The Futura College E-Campus is designed to be “data light” allowing students to use a cell phone data package. Budget for up to R 200 p.m. to cover data service costs depending on your preferred package.
