Ocean View Montessori School

Ocean View Montessori School Toddler Group; 18 months to three years
Pre-primary; three to six years
Primary 6 to 9 years Practical skills are part of every day, teaching independence.

At Ocean View we use the Montessori Philosophy of Education and teaching environment to provide our pupils with the best possible start to their education. They are nurtured, understood, supported and loved on their journey. Concepts are learnt through discovery, leading to concrete learning and a firm foundation in Maths and Language and the development of a wide general knowledge. The arts are t

aught by encouraging the child to participate fully in the creative process. Gross motor development, sport and outdoor play form part of the daily routine, as does the School's involvement in the One Planet Project. Our staff are all qualified, experienced and long-serving which contributes to the friendly and nurturing atmosphere at the school. Interested parents are invited to make an appointment to come and see the school in action and have a meeting with Rose or Lucy to discuss admission for their Child.

Our annual Spring Walk in Beautiful Bridgevale Valley! A haven of indigenous trees and grasses, home to wildlife in the centre of our suburb! Just two mins walk from our school, it is a space that we can freely enjoy. Raising funds for Durban North Conservancy for the upkeep of this space is an investment towards the wellbeing and education of our pupils. Thank you to all of our Ocean View Families for sharing the day with us and for participating in the first ever OVMS market, that took place after the walk. Yummy eats, delicious coffee, fresh juices, plants, activities, lawn games, face painting, crafts, books, thrift clothing, pre loved books, Lizzard flasks and more. All eased along will cool vibes from Nkosikhona Mgungwana. A fun time shared amongst our school community past and present. ❤️ Razia Bassa Yumna Moolla Natasha Forsdick Bridget Fourie Siziphiwe Lusiki Yoginie Naidoo Sensory Magic ✨ society_coffeeco The Creative Crew Africa's Anchor Of Hope Christie Roberts magicbeanfoundation SkillSprout Lekker Little Creations Lizzard South Africa Dr Fatima Hansa Ellysa Van Rensburg Rocket Rentals Juice Bros

We love Spring! Planting, harvesting and creating colourful artworks.
Now we just pray for a small gap in the abundant Spring rain so that we can continue our celebrations with our annual Spring walk and market. ❤️

Outdoor Play
Is the perfect chicken friendly way to develop gross motor skills, creativity, communication, collaboration, friendships, explore concepts and consolidate learning. All a big part of daily life at Ocean View. We give children multiple opportunities to celebrate the outdoors, building a deep bond with nature and building a sense of physical and mental wellbeing for life. ❤️ Natasha Forsdick Siziphiwe Lusiki Yumna Moolla Bridget Fourie Razia Bassa

BUT

Developmentally appropriate levels of choice provide channels for curiosity, inspire learning and lead to the development of responsibility. We see this cycle in action across all age groups everyday at Ocean View.
