EThekwini Mayor, Cllr Cyril Xaba, delivered his address today at Durban City Hall to mark World Hydrography Day.

Celebrated each year on 21 June, the day highlights the role of hydrography in keeping sea routes safe, protecting our marine environment, strengthening maritime security, and driving sustainable ocean development.

The address was followed by the Freedom of the City Parade along Dr Pixley kaSeme Street, with members of the public and learners from various schools joining to witness the occasion.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this year's World Hydrography Day celebrations a success. It is through working together that we can continue to promote maritime awareness, develop future talent, and build a safer, more sustainable, and a future for South Africa's oceans.
