The Writing Place, College of Humanities, UKZN Tutors will also provide feedback on structure & grammar, correct referencing techniques & the consequences of plagiarism.

The Writing Place assists students (1st year-Masters) with their academic writing skills through an emphasis on essay/assignment structure & understanding of academic concepts. Our trained postgraduate tutors will work through a draft of your essay with you to assist with understanding the essay question & constructing a coherent argument. WHERE: First floor, EG Malherbe library, Reserve book section. WHEN: Our tutors are available for consultations throughout both semesters including the mid-semester breaks. Hours of operation: 08:40–16:45 (Monday-Friday) according to the 45 minute periods of the university timetable. We are also available to assist postgraduate students during the June& November exam periods (by appointment only – see below). HOW: UKZN (Howard College) undergraduate students (1st-3rd year) should take a typed, complete draft of their essay (at least 3 days before due date) & go directly to the WP drop-in centre. ONLY POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS, STUDENTS FROM OTHER CAMPUSES & STUDENTS WITH GROUP ASSIGNMENTS NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.
