International Paper Airplane Day
26 May 2026
This unofficial special day was obviously observed at TLC - The Learning Centre this week. This simple paper craft encourages youngsters to put down their screens, fold paper planes & compete in distance and time-in-air challenges. We challenge you to put your folding skills to the test. We enjoyed every second of outdoor fun with this basic aeronautical toy that's been around for thousands of years. This day brings people together to enjoy this cheap, engaging, hands-on activity outside. We truly soaked up some much needed Vitamin D whilst running wild after our fancy, brightly colored paper planes.

We celebrated yet another interesting workshop but this time we gathered all our materials, headed outside & made our very own wild flower seed bombs. Basically a seed bomb are seeds wrapped in a blanket of Earth, making planting a breeze by just tossing them onto soil, preferably on a wet, rainy day.
We started off by ripping colour paper into bowls, added water, blended the mix into a mulch, smoothed the mix into rounds, added seeds & allowed to cure by drying.
We simply enjoyed soaking up some much needed Vitamin D by swaying to some awesome music while we got busy with our seed paper prep, in our outdoor classroom. It was so refreshing to witness our students giggling, dancing & just having fun...all the while learning together in nature.
All our students have to do now, is find a great spot with plenty of sunshine, get throwing & let nature do her work. Soon enough a glorious mix of pretty African Daisies will line our yards

TLC pupils celebrate creativity on World Colouring Day
Pupils at The Learning Centre (TLC) marked World Colouring Day on Wednesday, 6 May, with a vibrant celebration of creativity, colour, and fun.
The special day, which encourages children to express themselves through art in a carefree and imaginative way, saw pupils enthusiastically take part in the annual Staedtler World Kids Colouring Day competition.
This year’s theme, “Football, Friends and Colouring Fun,” inspired pupils to bring their ideas to life using bold colours and unique designs. Each child was given an individual sheet to create their own artwork, which will serve as their official entry into the competition.
The competition officially opened on Wednesday, 6 May and will run until Saturday, 6 June. All entries are submitted online via the Staedtler website, where a winner will be announced at the close of the event.
Principal Purusha Naidoo said the day was an exciting opportunity for pupils to express themselves freely. “World Colouring Day gives our pupils a chance to explore their creativity in a fun and relaxed environment. It’s wonderful to see their confidence grow as they bring their ideas to life through art,” she said.
Teachers at TLC described the day as a joyful and engaging experience, with pupils fully embracing the opportunity to be artistic without limits. From bright football scenes to imaginative depictions of friendship, the young artists showcased both talent and enthusiasm throughout the celebration.
