Spending time outside with your baby provides so many lovely opportunities for them to sign! Birds, bees, trees, flowers, wind, sun, rain, airplanes, helicopters, the moon - you can have so much pointing them out to your baby and teaching them. Before long, they will start noticing these things too and signing to you before you have even seen them! It’s incredibly rewarding and your clapping and praise for your clever baby will encourage them further.

Today I want to share a bit of background of Signing Baby - it was originally owned by my special mom, Yogie.

My mom ran a beautiful playschool in Durban for 25 years, and in this time she realised how much easier it was to communicate with the children through signing.

The benefit was seen when children were managing to seemlessly communicate their needs with staff and friends through sign, even when they were still learning to speak. The level of frustration was significantly lowered, therefore creating a far more harmonious environment for all of the children, and teachers, at school.

I could not wait to implement this lifestyle into my own home when I became a Mom, and my girls took to it beautifully. It quickly became a way of life and helped us tremendously with recognising what they needed.

When my mother retired, I was super excited to take over this wonderful business and to share in the joy that I've witnessed it bring to so many families over the years.
