I am letting you in on a little secret, my best activity for a young child!

How to Make a Montessori Treasure Basket by Nicky🧺

Sometimes the simplest things provide the richest learning opportunities!
A Montessori Treasure Basket is a beautiful way to encourage your young child to explore, discover and learn through their senses. You don’t need expensive toys - just a basket and a collection of safe, interesting everyday objects. (Keep the object bigger then your child's gullet if they are still exploring orally).

🧺 What to include:
• Wooden objects – a spoon, egg cup or small bowl
• Natural materials – pinecones, smooth stones or shells
• Fabric – a soft scarf, piece of velvet or knitted item
• Metal – a whisk, measuring cup or wooden-handled kitchen utensil
• Objects with different textures, shapes, weights and sounds
• A small brush or natural sponge
• Safe household objects that are interesting to touch, hold and explore

The Montessori secret? Less is more.
Choose a small number of carefully selected objects rather than filling the basket with lots of toys. The aim is to invite curiosity and exploration, not to entertain.

Hooked on Books — always a favourite! 📚

How brilliant are the Hooked on Books shows! The children simply delight in the energy, imagination and fun of beautifully chosen books brought to life through drama.

A wonderful annual treat that took place last week - and a definite win every year! 📖🎭

Montessori Cultural presentations are so brilliantly visual and hence valuable, look at this presentation of the "Importance of the Sun" , see the involvement of the child as he places all the cards depicting the items that benefit from the sun. See the concentration and engagement, that is the Montessori method at work.

"Both of my children attended Montessori Life , and I couldn't have wished for a better foundation for their education. The Montessori approach nurtured their independence and confidence, it also created a genuine love of learning. They were exceptionally well prepared for the transition to primary school, both academically and emotionally.

The teachers created such a caring and supportive environment, taking the time to truly understand each child and encourage them to grow at their own pace. Watching my children develop into capable, kind, and confident children has been such a joy, and I know their Montessori experience played a huge part in that. I will always be grateful for the wonderful start they were given."

Montessori teaches us that true wisdom lies in nurturing curiosity and independence. By respecting a child's natural development, we empower them to explore, discover, and grow into lifelong learners. Let's embrace the wisdom of guiding, not controlling."

This term, our children are exploring Sport , and what better way to learn than through real-life experiences!

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful Alves Nascimento family for giving our children an exciting Jiu-Jitsu demonstration. Our children were captivated as they discovered the skill, discipline and respect behind this incredible martial art.

We are so grateful for the amazing involvement of our Montessori Life families. Thank you, for bringing our Sport theme to life! 🥋
