SRC COLLEGE OF LAW AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES MANIFESTO
- Understanding that LLB is an honours degree, 4th year law students are equivalent to honours students from other disciplines, therefore all 4th years must be priotised with on campus residences like all other honours students.
- In an attempt to ensure that the calibre of lawyers we provide are equivalent to those of other highly ranked universities, Mooting must start from first year till final year and time and again Law students must be taken to courts just to observe the proceedings and normalise themselves with that environment
- The mentorship especially of first years must be strengthen, mentors must be allocated only 5 students so that they can give those first year their utmost attention and obviously this means more mentors must be hired.
- The School of law must make it their duty to scout Law firms to offer vocational training or rather articles to all students who completed their degrees with an average of over 65 percent
- Scrapping of humanities elective in our 2nd year for it to be replaced by other law module that is not offered in our institution, this will give us a chance to be as diverse as possible as lawyers
- Scrapping of financial exclusion through effective engagements with all law firms that always come to our campus for career guidance and equally engage former students who are now successful to contribute to a trust fund I will establish to cater especially for the financially less privileged.
- Revision of the exclusion policy and the immediate scrapping of exclusions that were wrongfully enforced to students under lockdown.
- Being a tutor must be a paying duty, it cannot be that law students trade tutoring classes for free while other disciplines get paid.
