Settle plates are useful for qualitative analysis of airborne
microorganisms. Settle Plates also suitable for personnel monitoring and used in industries such as food
(Hot Kitchen / Cold Kitchen areas), pharmaceutical and cosmetics

How to utilize a Settle Plate: Open at table-top level at selected points in the room and expose
petri dishes containing agar medium for 15 minutes to a four hour period. This allows the
microorganisms to settle onto agar media by gravity.
Settle Plate results: The number of microorganisms deposited onto the agar surface of the plate
over the period of exposure is determined by incubation of the agar plates and counting colonies that
develop. The results can be expressed as number of colony forming units (CFUs) per plate.

Why utilize Settle Plates: Settle plate method is an extremely useful method for assessing air
contamination by microorganisms. It is easy to conduct and very cost effective.

From the producer to the consumer, micro-organisms can affect the quality of food and the health of the consumer.

The Shelf-Life of food is the period in which it remains safe and suitable for human consumption.

This means that the food has not deteriorated in quality or spoiled in any way that the consumer would find unacceptable or undesirable. There should be no degradation of significant nutrients below the levels listed on the product label. The food must stay safe to consume, i.e. should not cause food-poisoning due to the growth of pathogens or the production of toxins during transport, warehousing, and shelf storage.

As there are various complex factors that affect shelf-life; our highly trained and experienced staff can offer a unique service which is tailor made for your product, storage & packaging requirements.
