I am Paddy Collins:
I taught at Highbury for 36 years, between 1981 and 2016, mostly in the gr 6&7 areas.
Since retirement I was a classroom facilitator for different pupils for 4 years and have given extra lessons to children from Gr 5-9, mostly in Maths (through demand), but very happy to assist in any subject up to Gr 8.
The success of most private tutoring (in my experience) lies in (1) building a trusting and comfortable relationship between tutor and pupil; (2) identifying the stumbling blocks and working to overcome these; (3) building confidence in the child so that he/she can move forward more positively, and (4) injecting some fun and humour into the tedium of an extra lesson!
I'm happy to come to your home, depending on location), but mostly work from a facility in central Hillcrest.
Also on offer are my 4-day holiday trips to Bhanga Nek on the Northern Maputuland coast for small groups of Gr7 boys looking for a fun-filled, digital-free beachie- chilled jorl!
Also a 3-day trip taking in the battlefields of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift.
