Mrs S Subramany retires. After 42 years of dedicated service to Protea Secondary School, we say So Long to a stalwart in education Mrs Sathie Subramany. She has been a champion of the learners, always advocating for the needs of the learners. In true Protea style, we gave her a farewell befitting the high regard in which she is held. A day of tears and smiles, Mrs Subramany holds a legacy of love and hope and she will surely be missed by Educators and learners. We wish you everything of the best in your retirement Mrs Sathie Subramany.

Our school is undergoing a major revamp. Some exciting and really phenomemal changes are underway. As a part of an intensive fundraising initiative, educators have formed 4 teams and are raising funds competitively. We are appealing to you to kindly post photos of the school, from years gone by. We would like to use these photos in a video to present to potential sponsors.

New Year, New Look, New Beginnings at Protea Secondary School. A sneak peak at some of the exciting improvements underway at Protea Secondary School.

In 2019, we embarked on an intensive drive to improve the infrastructure, resources and facilities at Protea Secondary School. With the kind assistance of our ex-learners and other sponsors we have managed to make significant improvements to the Library and Science Laboratory.

The lockdown has resulted in one of the major projects i. e the revamp of the Hospitality Centre, to be put on hold. We are very pleased to announce that through the generosity of ex-learners as well as other sponsors we have secured the sponsorship of stainless shelving and work stations, a chips fryer, a double pot sink and electrical wiring for the new Hospitality Centre, which was the Old Woodwork Room. The sponsorships thus far amount to an estimated R50 000.

We are in dire need of further assistance to furnish the Centre with fixtures and appliances so that learners can benefit from the lessons as soon as possible. We require 5 Hob and Oven Sets (600mm x 500mm), 4 Hobs only (600mm x 500mm)
and 1 convection oven.

We appeal to you to consider assisting us in either sponsoring or securing sponsors for the school. Any sponsorship of R1000 and above will be acknowledged on the Wall of Honour in the Hospitality Centre.

Hi all. As admin it has been a memorable few years keeping you posted on the activities taking place at Protea Secondary. I hope I have made an impact and a difference in your lives in reminiscing about your school years. After much thought and deliberation, however I have requested for and now been transferred to Westpark Special Needs school where I hope to also make a difference to these learner lives. However I wish to reiterate that Protea has and will always continue to be my home. God bless. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Strini Mudaly
