What a fantastic afternoon of hockey at Glenmore Primary School!

Yesterday, our U10 & U11 combined team played a strong and determined game, finishing with a
well-earned 0–0 draw.
Our U12 & U13 combined team delivered an exceptional performance, securing a
brilliant 2–0 victory! The girls showed excellent teamwork, confidence, discipline and
determination throughout the match.

A special thank you to Glenmore Primary School for their wonderful hospitality,
especially for keeping the girls refreshed and energised with delicious ice lollies at half-
time!

We are incredibly proud of all our girls for representing Gordon Road Girls School with
commitment, sportsmanship and pride.

🏑 FOUNDATION PHASE HOCKEY MINI-TOURNAMENT 🏑

Our FP hockey teams brought incredible energy, determination, and big smiles to the mini hockey tournament at Morningside Primary School this past Saturday, 29 August 2026!
Our Under 8 and Under 9 players arrived with their game faces on, ready to compete against Glenwood Junior Primary, Durban Primary, and our hosts, Morningside Primary.

Here is how the day went on the turf:
🌟 Under 8s: Phenomenal teamwork led them to 2 wins and 1 draw!
💪 Under 9s: Faced some tough competition and fought hard in all their matches. While the results didn't go their way, they played with massive hearts and gained invaluable match experience.

Most importantly, both teams had an absolute blast! Win or lose, the sportsmanship and camaraderie shown by our young players made us incredibly proud.

❤️ A massive THANK YOU to Morningside Primary School for hosting such a wonderful event. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and look forward to coming back soon!

Yesterday, our GRGS Grade 2 girls had a wonderful day at uShaka Sea World! They enjoyed an exciting and educational programme, learning fascinating facts about different sea creatures with the guidance of the uShaka team.

There was plenty of learning, laughter, dancing and fun along the way! 🐬💙

Grade 6 Practical Task- Electric Circuits

Our Grade 6 learners put their scientific knowledge into action during a hands-on practical lesson on Electric Circuits. Working collaboratively, they constructed their own circuits, explored how electrical components work together, and developed valuable problem-solving and teamwork skills. Learning truly comes alive through practical experiences!

♟️ A GREAT DAY FOR OUR CHESS TEAM! ♟️

What a fantastic day for our chess girls! 🩷

A special thank you to Cygnet Preparatory School for hosting this wonderful tournament and providing learners with the opportunity to challenge themselves and showcase their Chess skills.

Both Himani Premraj and Mia Ramsurup showed wonderful focus, determination, and perseverance throughout the tournament. 👏🏼♟️

🌟 Himani earned 2 points, with two fantastic wins!

🏆 Mia Ramsurup had an outstanding tournament, earning 4 points from 4 wins and taking 1st place in her age category! 🥇🎉

We are incredibly proud of both girls for representing our school with such enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Their dedication and positive attitude made it a day to remember! ♟️💙❤️

🧠✨ Ilyaana Shines at the Mental Maths Challenge! ✨🧠

On Wednesday, 26 August 2026, Ilyaana proudly represented Gordon Road Girls’ School at the FP District Mental Maths Challenge which took place at the Chatsworth Teachers' College. 🏆💙

Close to 100 learners took part in the first round, answering 10 challenging multiple-choice questions. Ilyaana performed exceptionally well and was one of only 29 learners to advance to Round 2.

The competition became tougher with each round. Only 11 learners achieved 100% and progressed to Round 3. Ilyaana continued through Rounds 4 and 5, eventually placing an impressive 6th overall!

Throughout the competition, she showed great focus, confidence and determination.

We are incredibly proud of you, Ilyaana! You represented Gordon Road Girls’ School so well.

Congratulations on this wonderful achievement, our maths superstar! 🌟➕➖✖️➗

On August 28th, our Senior Primary athletes brought energy, grit, and incredible house spirit to the annual SP Sports Day! The atmosphere was electric from start to finish, but a massive congratulations goes out to our big winners:

Congratulations to our talented girls who participated in the recent chess tournament on Saturday, 22nd August.

They played well, completing all 5 rounds. Congratulations to Mia Ramsurup, who achieved 3rd place in the Senior Primary division. 🥉👏

Well done to everyone who took part! We are so proud of you! 💙💛
