We salute decolonising our Afrikan plates and palettes - this is so inspiring!
DECOLONIZING THE AFRIKAN PLATE: Do we eat food that liberate us? Colonization deeply disrupted indigenous food systems across Afrika, replacing nutrient-rich, locally adapted diets with processed, imported foods that often led to chronic illness. What are the direct after-effects we suffer today as a result of this forced transition? What would it mean for the Afrikan Family to decolonize its’ diet?
At eBukhosini Solutions’ next Afrikan Family Dialogue, we have invited Chef Nonhlanhla “Noni” Moroenyane to facilitate a critical and solution-oriented conversation about “Food as Our First Language: Reclaiming Identity and Healing Families”. Chef Noni is a renowned culinary artist and healer who champions indigenous African food traditions. She creates immersive cooking experiences, promotes plant-based nutrition, and leads initiatives restoring ancestral foodways. Her work bridges sustainability, cultural preservation, and community healing through food presentations, storytelling and urban farming.
