Set high up on the Berea, which is the high ridge overlooking Durban, the guest house is within easy walking distance of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (main campus) and we have easy access to the other campuses. Three shopping centres, (the Musgrave Centre, Glenwood Village and the Davenport centre), art galleries e.g. the KZNSA and several restaurants are all within walking distance. We are less than 3 kilometres from the Durban University of Technology and the Medical School of UKZN. The area is particularly safe and has retained its leafy and residential feel and our large indigenous garden is a haven for birds. Our affordable rates reflect our commitment to serving the academic, N.G.O., medical and other communities who have supported us so well since we opened our doors. We know that computers and high speed internet are important, so we provide this, including Wi-Fi internet. We offer reduced rates to researchers or others staying for a month or more. Our convenient self-catering options also distinguish us from other guest houses. Here you will feel completely at home, able to invite friends or colleagues to share the amenities with you, should you wish to do so. There are a number of communal areas, including a lounge with a well stocked library of books with a large collection of (old!) African history books. As every bedroom has an outside door you will never feel confined, or forced to interact with other guests, should you wish to be private. We are frequently complimented on the comfort of our beds, which have superb mattresses and good quality pure cotton sheets. We are committed to maintaining a very high standard.
