✅Every child has the right to practise judo in an environment where they feel safe, respected, heard and protected.

📆On Safe Sport Day 2026, the African Judo Union reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding everyone involved in our sport, particularly our children and young people, whether they participate as athletes, young coaches, referees, volunteers or officials.

🥋The values of judo teach us respect, courage, friendship and responsibility. These values must extend beyond the tatami into the way we protect and care for every member of our judo family.

🛑Safeguarding requires more than awareness. It requires strong policies, clear reporting mechanisms, responsible leadership and a culture where concerns can be raised and addressed without fear.

Across African judo, we all have a role to play.

▶️Protect. Listen. Speak up.

🌍Together, we can ensure that judo remains a safe and positive environment for every child.
