We are proud to see Glenwood Old Boy John Barker making his mark in the football world with the launch of his new podcast, World Cup Stories.
As the son of the late South African football icon Clive Barker, John continues to celebrate and preserve the rich legacy of South African football through engaging conversations with some of the game's most respected figures.
In the debut episode, John sits down with AmaZulu legend and former Bafana Bafana striker George Dearnaley to reflect on South Africaโs World Cup journey, Clive Barkerโs lasting impact on the game, memorable encounters against Mexico and Czechia, and what it takes to perform on footballโs biggest stage.
We congratulate John on this exciting new venture and encourage our Glenwood community to support and follow the podcast.

Congratulations to Glenwood Old Boys Jaco Williams (Class of 2023) and Nico Steyn (Class of 2020) on their selection for the SA 'A' team for the season-opening clash against Zimbabwe in Gqeberha this weekend. Jaco will start on the wing in the No. 14 jersey, while Nico has been named amongst the replacements in the No. 21 jersey.
Jaco's journey from Glenwood's 1st XV to the national pathway continues to gather momentum, while Nico, former Head Prefect and 1st XV Captain, once again demonstrates the quality of leadership and rugby excellence that Glenwood strives to develop.
We are incredibly proud of both young men and wish them every success as they pull on the green and gold and represent South African rugby at the highest level.

On Friday, 12 June 2026, Glenwood was proudly represented at the Penzance Primary Golf Day by staff members Mr Rikus Vermeulen, Mr Craig Baker, Mr Akhail Sing and Mr Marcus Ingram.
The event provided a wonderful opportunity to strengthen relationships within our local education community while enjoying a fantastic day on the course.
The Glenwood Marketing Department was stationed at Hole 2, where golfers were welcomed with refreshing Glenwood water and handy Glenwood pencils to keep them hydrated and ready for their next shot.
A sincere thank you to for hosting a successful and enjoyable event. We appreciate the opportunity to be part of the day and look forward to supporting future community initiatives.
๐๐ Well played, gentlemen! Your participation continues to showcase the Glenwood spirit both on and off the field.
