Our Grade 10 Physical Science learners combined science, teamwork and a little bit of speed in class today.

Under the guidance of Mrs Shore, our learners took part in an exciting acceleration investigation, exploring how an objectโ€™s velocity changes over time as it travels down an inclined plane.

The investigation gave our learners the opportunity to put their classroom knowledge into practice, observe motion, collect data and investigate the principles of acceleration.

And while they were getting to grips with the science behind motion, they were also getting behind a great cause, showing that Bok Friday is about more than rugby; itโ€™s about community, giving and making a difference all in support of the Durban Childrenโ€™s Home.

On Wednesday, 9 September 2026, the Mike Turrel Pavilion was transformed into a celebration of creativity as Miss Jackson (Subject Head of Art) hosted the Grade 12 Visual Arts Retrospective Exhibition.

The evening celebrated the creative journey, growth and achievements of our Grade 12 Visual Arts learners, with a selection of works from their Grade 11 and Grade 12 years on display.

From exploring new ideas and media to developing techniques and finding their own artistic voices, the exhibition provided a wonderful opportunity for our learners to reflect on just how far they have come.

The Retrospective Exhibition also forms an important part of their final Visual Arts assessment, making the evening a significant milestone in their Grade 12 journey.

We were privileged to welcome Dr Rachel Baasch as our guest speaker. Rachel is a Durban-based artist, art historian, curator and cultural producer, with extensive experience in Fine Art, Art History and creative research. She is currently Vice President of the KZNSA Gallery and co-director of the Art-ists Collective, while continuing her own artistic practice in printmaking, exploring themes of place, borders and the politics of space.

We thank Dr Baasch for sharing her knowledge and insights with our young artists, and for helping to make this a meaningful and inspiring evening.

Well done to our Grade 12 Visual Arts learners! We look forward to seeing where your creative journeys take you next.

Some of the most important lessons at Glenwood aren't learnt behind a desk. They're found in the moments boys share.

On the field. At camp. During activities.

In the laughter, the challenges, the celebrations and simply showing up for one another.

These are the experiences that turn classmates into teammates, teammates into friends and friendships into a brotherhood that can extend well beyond their school years.

At Glenwood, boys don't just grow alongside one another.

They grow because of one another. ๐Ÿ’š

Glenwood proudly congratulates George Elphick (Class of 1976) on being awarded the 2026 SAIA Gold Medal for Architecture, the South African Institute of Architectsโ€™ highest individual honour for architecture.

Georgeโ€™s achievement is the culmination of an extraordinary 37-year architectural journey, beginning with the establishment of Elphick Proome Architecture (EPA) in Durban in 1989, alongside fellow founding director Nick Proome.

Over nearly four decades, George has built an exceptional legacy through projects spanning corporate offices, mixed-use developments, high-rise apartments, private residences and interiors across seven African countries. He has also contributed significantly to architectural education, serving as a design critic at five South African universities over a 25-year period.

Among his most notable recent achievements is the Nelson Mandela Cruise Terminal in Durban, a landmark project that has received multiple architectural accolades.

Georgeโ€™s Gold Medal is a remarkable recognition of his sustained contribution as a designer, teacher and mentor, and a proud moment for the Glenwood community.
Your achievements continue to inspire the next generation of Glenwood boys to pursue excellence and make their mark on the world.

What happens on the sports field can shape how a boy approaches life beyond it.
At Glenwood, sport is an important part of developing the whole young man. Competition teaches boys to handle pressure. Training demands commitment.

Teamwork builds trust, while both victory and disappointment offer lessons in resilience and humility.

From rugby and hockey to Padel and the many other sporting opportunities available, boys are encouraged to participate, challenge themselves and discover what they're capable of.

This is โ€œThe Other Halfโ€ of a Glenwood education, where sport, culture and co-curricular experiences work alongside academics to develop confidence, character and brotherhood.

The result matters. The lessons learnt along the way matter even more. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ’š World Su***de Prevention Day

Today is an important reminder of the value of connection, compassion and looking out for one another.

At Glenwood High School, we believe that strength is not only about facing challenges alone. It is also about knowing when to speak up, ask for support and allow others to stand alongside you.

For our boys especially, we want to reinforce a simple message: you do not have to have all the answers, and asking for help is a sign of courage.

A conversation, a listening ear or simply checking in with someone can matter more than we realise.

Today, and every day, let us continue building a school community where our boys feel seen, heard, supported and valued. ๐Ÿ’š

Glenwood is incredibly proud of our very own Ryan Yunnie (Class of 1993), who is taking centre stage once again as a choreographer for this yearโ€™s Shall We Dance Durban production!

Ryan, Glenwood High Schoolโ€™s Operations & Commercial Manager, has been part of the Shall We Dance family since its very inception. His journey with the production began on stage as a dancer, and today he continues to play an integral role as one of the showโ€™s talented choreographers.

Alongside his wife, Janelle Yunnie, PA to the Glenwood High School Headmaster and a valued member of the Shall We Dance production team as seamstress and marketing coordinator. Together, Ryan and Janelle are respected Ballroom and Latin-American dancers, coaches and choreographers, bringing many years of experience, creativity and dedication to the dance community through the Dance Basics Dance Studio Team.

This truly is a family affair! Ryan and Janelleโ€™s sons, Taurin (Class of 2023) and Braigen (Class of 2025), have spent 10 consecutive years wowing audiences on stage, while their eldest son, Kye (Class of 2020), plays an important role behind the scenes. Our very own Cambridge educator, Kimona Kisten, is also celebrating her seventh year as part of the production.
