What a fantastic reunion of 1993 classmates in Baltimore!

Cuan Brown & Damien Askew flew over from the UK to join their classmate Greg Norris, now based in NYC, at M&T Bank Stadium to cheer on the Boks against the All Blacks — a belated 50th birthday present & celebration for Greg! 🎉

Greg was 1993 Head Prefect and a former St Henry’s staff member and 1st XV Rugby Coach — so there was certainly plenty of Marist history and memories to share!

And what a game they witnessed!
The Boks made history with a thrilling 43–28 victory over the All Blacks in front of 68,000 passionate fans, securing the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series 3–1!

Three old classmates, a shared love of rugby and a friendship that has stood the test of time. Marist friends for life!

8h00 MASS AT HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC PARISH
SUNDAY, 20 SEPTEMBER

As part of our continuing partnership with Catholic parishes across Durban, St Henry’s is delighted to join the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish community for the 8h00 Mass this Sunday, 20 September.

We warmly invite all our Marist families and alumni to join us for this special parish visit and to show their St Henry’s spirit by wearing blue and gold, where possible. 💙💛

Our students will play a prominent role in the celebration of Mass, and our choir will lead the congregation in song. We will also have a St Henry’s table at the entrance to the church, providing an opportunity to connect with parishioners and share more about our school community.

💙 A HEART-WARMING MEETING OF TWO 1974 MARIST LEGENDS — 52 YEARS LATER! 💙

Glen Hawkins (Head Boy) & Mike Rudolph (Head Prefect)

Last week, Glen Hawkins, who has been visiting from the USA for the past three months, travelled to McGregor in the Western Cape to visit his old school friend, Mike Rudolph who he hasn't seen since leaving school 52 years ago.

The two Marist legends spent time together catching up, reminiscing and sharing many wonderful memories from their St Henry’s days.
Glen's comment “It was really great catching up after 52 years. We had so much to talk about.”

Glen and Mike were both outstanding scholars and sportsmen and, remarkably, were the first two St Henry’s students to receive the South African Marist Award of a “Provincial Marist Blazer” in the same year — 1974.

🏅 The Provincial Marist Blazer

This prestigious award was presented to a student of truly outstanding all-round ability. It was one of the most difficult honours to earn and was held in the highest esteem.
Importantly, the award was not made by the school, but by the Provincial Council of the Marist Brothers, who considered outstanding students from all the South African Marist schools before selecting a recipient for this very special honour.

💙💛It was also wonderful to have Glen back at St Henry’s in June this year, shortly after arriving in Durban, when he attended our Alumni Reunion Cocktail Evening.
We also had the opportunity to introduce Glen to Barbara Wahlberg, St Henry’s Archivist, who interviewed him for the “100 Voices” project for the Centenary Book being planned for St Henry’s 100th Anniversary celebrations in 2029. On this occasion, Glen also very generously donated all his old school badges to the St Henry’s Museum & Archives — including his treasured Marist Provincial Badge and Natal Schools Rugby Badge.

💙Wonderful Marist Friendships… Class of 1978

Some of the local gents from the Class of 1978 got together last night to welcome home Craig Mullen, who is visiting from Australia. Most of these gents have been mates for more than 60 years — a wonderful testament to the lifelong friendships formed at Marist!

A group from the Class of ’78 also attended the Alumni Reunion Cocktail Evening in June, where they welcomed Guy Henderson, living in the UK, who wasn't going to miss out on an opportunity to be with his classmates.

These friendships continue to grow, and the Class of ’78 are already building towards a very special celebration — their 50th Reunion in 2028!

Here’s to lifelong Marist friendships and many more memories to come! Marist friends for life 💙
