▪️The Noble Qur’an uses the Arabic words ‘adhab and ‘iqab for Allaah's punishment.

▪️ The Arabic ‘adhab is the same as the Hebrew ‘azab, which along with many other meanings, means to forsake.

▪️ The word ‘iqab in the Semitic languages means to follow and to seek.

▪️ Hence, the Qur’anic usage of ‘adhab Allah means forsaking Allah, while the Qur’anic usage of Allaah’s ‘iqab means that Allaah "follows and seeks."

▪️Although it is usually understood as punishment and infliction of suffering from Allaah, it is to be understood that people forsake Allaah, and so Allaah "follows" them and "seeks them back" , due to His merciful nature.

▪️ The Qur’anic text shows that as people forsake Allaah, they feel they are suffering and as Allaah "follows" them to bring them back to Him, they feel their egos are being punished.

💭 ❓ *QUESTION:* 💭❓

Why has Allah created evil eye?

It sometimes harms innocents too and can drag someone to death.

Is there any wisdom in this?

✔️ *ANSWER:* ✔️

The evil eye is a reality and It CAN be powerful.

Qadi Abu Bakr Ibn al-Arabi al-Maliki and others explain that it is from Allah’s Will that sometimes He creates harmful effects from the evil or jealous glances and looks of others.

*The Suffering of Others*

The sufferings of the innocent, such as from natural disasters, disease, or the inhumanity of others are temporary, and shall be a source of triumph in the next life, the infinite sphere of Allah’s name al-Rahim, the All-compassionate.

Children who die find eternal bliss.
In this world, the sufferings of the innocent are equally a trial for bystanders and onlookers, who are not innocent if they can do something to alleviate them.

The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said,

“The believer is not someone who spends the night while his neighbor is hungry”

(Mustadrak (5), 4.167. S).

Scholars of Sacred Law mention that while some duties in Islam are of defined amount, such as the five daily prayers, fasting the month of Ramadan, the hajj once in a lifetime-others, others are equally obligatory but of undefined amount, such as cooperating with one another in good works, feeding the
hungry, helping the distressed, or providing disaster relief.

Someone who can help a sufferer by spending his money, his time, his influence, his advice, or *if nothing else, his duaas, MUST.*

From Allah’s wisdom, this too is of the trial of mankind “with good and evil, as a test”

(Qur’an 21:35).

💭 ❓*WHO was this heroine of Islam* 💭❓

📎Hadhrat Sa’d RadiAllaahuAnhu and his father Hadhrat Rabee' RadiAllaahuAnhu were two companions of Rasulullaah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam from the Ansaar who were martyred as they protected Rasulullaah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam during the Battle of Uhud.

📎The daughter of Hadhrat Sa’d RadiAllaahuAnhu was not yet born at the time.

📎Her mother then came to Rasulullaah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam saying,

📎“Sa’d’s brothers have taken away all the inheritance and have left nothing for me and my two daughters.”

📎It was then that Allaah revealed the laws of inheritance, which stipulated shares for the wife and daughters.

📎Before Islaam, there was not a single nation or religion that stipulated shares in the estate for women.

📎The wife of Hadhrat Sa'd RadiAllaahuAnhu therefore became the cause for the revelation of the verses of inheritance.

📎Because the mother and father were so pious, the child born after the death of Hazrat Sa'd was no less.

📎This child grew up to be a person with great qualities.

📎She was well versed in the knowledge of Fiqh and inheritance and had also memorised the entire Qur'aan.

📎She taught the Qur'aan to her children together with the circumstances of revelation.

📎Her children were therefore proficient in the knowledge of Deen and, together with them, many other students also flocked to her.

📎Amongst her children was Hadhrat Khaarija bin Zaid who was one of the seven eminent Qurraa of Madinah.

💭 *LET US REFLECT ON...* 💭

📿 *Tahmeed/Hamd*

▪️As Muslims, the phrase “Alhamdulillah” اَلحَمْدُ لِله is an integral part of our Deen.

▪️‘Alhamdulillah’ is an amazingly deep word, which would take pages upon pages to explain properly in English (which has been done by the scholars) but the explanation that follows is very brief so that we can convey the core of what this phrase really contains.

▪️ Linguistically, Hamd is from ha-meem-daal ( حمد or ح م د) And refers to mentioning the good attribute of a person, an attribute that is the at the level of perfection.

▪️ Hamd is based on mahabbah (love) and ta’dheem (honor).

▪️ Hamd is not a ‘fake’ praise.

▪️ It is not done to please the person or without significance.

▪️ Hamd is praise at the height of truth.

▪️ It implies admiration, love and magnifying the praise of the Mahmood (one who is praised).

▪️ It can only be done for a living being who has an intellect.

▪️ The one doing hamd is doing submission to the one being praised out of humility.

▪️ Hamd also includes sincere gratitude and mentioning the kamaal (best) traits of someone.

▪️‘Alhamdulillah’, implies exclusivity and entirety, meaning that praise is entirely and only for Allah.

▪️ How do we know this?

▪️The ‘al’ (ال) before ‘hamd’ is called “istighraaq” in Arabic, and when “al” comes before this phrase its means that the entire praise, all kinds of praise and at all times, is due to Allah.

▪️The “li” ( لِ in lillah, meaning, for Allah) implies limitation which is known as “ikhtisaas” in Arabic and it means that Allah is the only One who deserves the hamd.

▪️Now with this concrete definition in mind, what does ‘Alhamdulillah’ really mean?

▪️A more suitable definition would be:

*The perfect, most beautiful praise is only for Allah.*

▪️We say ‘Alhamdulillah’ out of love, honor, with humility, complete submission and sincere gratitude to Allah Ta'ala.

▪️ In the Qur’an we learn that ‘Alhamdulillah’ will be the last call of the believers in Jannah, Allah tells us:

وَآخِرُ دَعْوَاهُمْ أَنِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

“and the last of their call will be Alhamdulillah, Rabb of all that exists!”

(Surah Yunus, verse 10)

▪️ ‘Alhamdulillah’ appears 38 times in the Qur’an.

▪️ How will the dwellers of Jannah thank Allah for guiding them to Jannah?

▪️Imagine…

▪️You’re seeing the doors of Jannah, wide open for you...

▪️You enter it and see all its delight…

▪️In THAT emotional moment, what is it that will be said?

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي هَدَانَا لِهَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِنَهْتَدِيَ لَوْلا أَنْ هَدَانَا اللَّهُ
Alhamdulillah, Who has guided us to this, never could we have found guidance, were it not that Allah had guided us!

(Surah 7:Verse 43)

▪️Sincere gratitude.

▪️Total humility.

▪️True love.

▪️They don’t even ascribe one thing to themselves.

▪️When a surah begins with hamd, it implies three interpretations:

▪️Firstly, to tell and to make it known, sort of like an announcement: ALHAMDULILLAH!

▪️Secondly, it teaches us that when we open something, we begin with hamd. (like a khutbah)

▪️Thirdly, it teaches us how to praise Allah (by saying Alhamdulillah) and we also learn that we must praise Him.

▪️ A Name of Allah that coincides with Hamd is Al-Hameed.

▪️ Allah Ta’ala is Al-Hameed, The Most Praiseworthy.

▪️ How is Al-Hameed different from Mahmood (one who is praised)?

▪️Mahmood is one who is praised only when they are praised by someone.

▪️Hameed is One who is ALWAYS deserving of praise, NO MATTER if He is praised or not.

▪️So Allah Ta’ala is THE Most Praiseworthy, if we do hamd of Him or not.

*Alhamdulillah.*

▪️Such a SHORT PHRASE, such a DEEP MEANING!!!

AlHamdulillah - A Linguistic Miracle of the Quran - MuslimMatters.org Writing about the literary dimension of the Qur’an for an audience that may or may not have background in Arabic grammar and rhetoric can be rather challenging. ❓❓ *DID YOU KNOW* ❓❓

▪️Lexically, the Arabic word `tazkiyah' means purification and development - of anything - to the level of perfection.

▪️ As a Quranic term, it expresses a way of ridding ourselves of flawed tendencies and leanings as well as providing one with the means to attain piety and to help our souls develop to become as perfect as humanly possible.

▪️ In other words, the ultimate goal of tazkiyah is for man to purify himself and prepare for his return back to his ‘original home’ and “final abode,” Paradise.

💭❔ *WHO was this heroine of the ummah* 💭❔

▪️She belonged to the Khazraj tribe of the Ansaar.

▪️She accepted Islaam together with all her family members when Rasulullaah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam arrived in Madinah and had also pledge her allegiance to Rasulullaah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.

▪️Her husband Hadhrat Aws bin Saamit RadiAllaahuAnha had practised the act of Zihaar with her, meaning that he told her, “You are forbidden to me as is the back of my mother.”

▪️In pre-Islaamic days, this was regarded as divorce, but she immediately went to Rasulullaah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam and reported the matter to him in tears.

▪️It was then that Surah Mujaadalah was revealed, explaining that it was necessary to pay Kaffaara.

▪️She then paid the Kaffaara on behalf of her husband.

▪️It was therefore because of her that Allaah revealed the verses of the Qur'aan, through which the entire Ummah received clarification on the matter of Zihaar.

▪️She was very eloquent in speech and spoke with great confidence.

▪️Without a hint of fear, she would also advise a personality as great as Ameerul Mu'mineen Hadhrat Umar RadiAllaahuAnhu.

▪️Taking heed to what she would say, Hadhrat Umar RadiAllaahuAnhu used to remark, “This is the lady whose complaint was heard from above the seven heavens.”

▪️It was during his reign of Khilaafah that she passed away.

❓❓ *DID YOU KNOW* ❓ ❓

📎According to Imam Tirmidhi, a noted scholar of Hadith, the early Muslim scholars concluded three pillars that establish a good character:

▪️Bastul Wajhi

▪️Kafful Ada

▪️Badrul Ma’roof.

📎 *Bastul Wajhi* is to meet and greet people with a smiling face.

📎A smile gives an indication that you are happy to meet the person.

📎It leaves a strong impression of your cheerful personality and good conduct upon people, which will ultimately lead them to appreciate you.

▪️ *Kafful Ada* stands for not causing harm to anyone; either verbally, physically, emotionally, in writing, or through our dealings.

▪️ *Badrul ma’roof* is causing benefit to the people and the rest of the creations of Allaah Ta'ala too.

📎It can be done through your efforts, money, skills, knowledge and various other modes.

📎Our Beloved Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam excelled in each of the above categories and that is why the Qur’an testified to his noble character.

📎If we follow in his footsteps and bring the above 3 pillars into our character, we will also achieve excellence, InshaaAllah.

📌 *Concerning the hadith “the pen has been lifted and the ink has dried”, what is this referring to?*

📌i.e. What aspects of destiny?

📌I was of the opinion that dua can change destiny, but how does dua changing destiny fit into the quoted hadith?

📌I guess what I’m asking is:

📌What exactly has been written in ink?

📌i.e. Is every action of every insaan written down?

📌Can dua change any of what has been written in ink?

📌If I make dua to change my destiny, is me making this dua written down?

📌If so then is it not true that my dua hasnt really changed anything as it was already written that I would do this and my destiny would change?

📌I just can’t quite get my head around this, any light shed on the matter would be appreciated.

✔️ *ANSWER:* ✔️

✔️Everything is written in taqdeer; one’s eating, drinking, studying, etc.

✔️Even the dua that one will make is written in taqdeer.

✔️However, the Hadith that explains that dua can change taqdeer means that despite how difficult and impossible a task might outwardly seem, but if one turns to Allah Ta’ala and makes dua, Allah Ta’ala will make that task simple and easy on account of the dua one made.

✔️As though the impossible has become possible on account of the dua.

✔️In other words the Hadith has come to explain that one should not become despondent or lose hope in whichever difficult condition one may find oneself in.

✔️Instead one should revert to dua.

✔️However, one’s making dua and turning to Allah Ta’ala is also written in taqdeer.
