This week’s Feature Friday is made up of sugar and spice and all things nice. Francois Cheyne of Le Lapin Ceramics South Africa has been trading with us for the last 9 years and this is her journey with SFM:

“At my stall, I take a simple lump of clay and blank canvases and turn them into a wonderland of creativity. This process brings me immense joy, especially when I see customers enjoying my creations too. I have been creative since school and this passion has continued for the last 47 years. I have always lived off my art.

Before I started with SFM I sold my art at trade shows, galleries and high-end craft shops. However, I was looking for a permanent place to sell my art and I discovered the Shongweni Farmers Market.

I've been a part of SFM since its new venue opened. One memorable moment was when I introduced Le Lapin Ceramics during Easter, and clients couldn’t resist the charm of my bunnies. Since then, I’ve been part of this market family, meeting with everyone every Saturday morning. The neighbours become your family as we all look after each other. It truly is wonderful to be part of this community”
