Arbor day 2026 Thanks to Zakpak and Mrs Spilsbury for their kind contribution of 15 palm trees to our school.

Arbor Day is a special occasion that reminds us of our responsibility to care for and protect our environment. Trees provide us with clean air, shade, food, shelter and many other resources that we often take for granted.

Arbor Day is about more than simply planting a tree. It is about planting hope, nurturing life and creating a better future. When we plant a tree today, we may not be the ones who enjoy its full shade or see it reach its greatest height, but future generations will. This teaches us the value of thinking beyond ourselves and caring for those who will come after us.

As a school, we believe that educating our learners about the environment helps them to become responsible citizens. We want our learners to understand that even the smallest action—planting a tree, watering a plant, recycling waste or simply keeping our surroundings clean—can make a meaningful difference.

We would like to thank our generous sponsor Mrs Anisa Spilsbury from S**O - Zakpak for graciously sponsoring 15 palm trees in commeration of Arbor Day and sustaining the environment.

A big thank you to the environment club , SMT and Githa for being the driving force behind today's event.

ST MARY’S ATHLETES SHINE AT INTER-SCHOOL SPORTS

St Mary’s Primary School congratulates our athletes on their excellent performances at the Fynnlands Inter-School Sports Meet.

Lethubuhle Buthelezi claimed 1st place in the Under-13 Shot Put, while our Under-13 Long Jump athletes also impressed, with Nhlanhla Kheswa finishing 2nd and Nkanyezi Nzama securing 3rd place.

We are extremely proud of their determination, sportsmanship and the pride with which they represented St Mary’s.

Congratulations to our young athletes on these outstanding achievements!
