Hi all. have a look at our new page, dedicated to the UKZN solar car project. UKZN Solar Car
Apalis
For several years the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has been developing a high tech solar powered vehicle.
Using the latest computer aided design software and other cutting-edge technology, a solar car is to be designed and built, with the ultimate aim of competing in the South African Solar Car Challenge 2012. The Apalis solar car program is a development of the Solar Energy Research Group (SERG). SERG is a research group from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UKZN which focuses on efficient energy utilization and conversion systems.
Great News! Apalis will be on display at the Top Gear Festival in the "Souped Up Car" section on the 15th and 16th June . If all goes well, we will also be driving around the street circuit. Wish us luck, and come down and have a look :-)
Exciting news...we are bringing Apalis back to life :-) after its long trip around the country, Apalis was feeling tired with all sorts of electrical issuess popping up. This year, the process begins again for the 2014 race :-)
Come to the Mechanical Engineering Open Day. Thursday and Friday from 3pm to 5pm. Apalis will be on display, with the team available to answer any questions.
