We're thrilled to share that our Navigation simulator laboratory, launched on August 15th, 2024, welcomed its first visitors today!

90 enthusiastic students from Klwana Combined School toured our facility, expressing keen interest in pursuing maritime studies after high school.

They were warmly welcomed by our esteemed lecturers, Mr Manqele, who guided them through the simulator Lab, and Sihle Mthembu , Dr. Lindani Ntshangase (PhD) ,and Zama Hlongwane who introduced them to the programs offered by the department.

As the Department of Maritime Studies at DUT we would like to extend our special thanks to TRANSNET for affording our Shipping and Logistics students an incredible opportunity to embark on a full tour of the Durban Port. Both our first- and third-year students were extremely excited to physically see and experience much of what they would have heard of or seen in a slide show in their lecture rooms. Students expressed their gratitude for an "AMAZING" experience of being in such close proximity with a commercial vessel!
