Did someone say flower power? 🌺
Look at these kid bloom! They loved tapping into their creative sides with making flower cardboard vases. All the while learning about the different parts. But don’t mistake a flower with a deer, even though they have antlers too! 🦌
I’m sure you are dye-ing to hear about what Ballito got up to! Our very own Mix led the season on natural dyes. I’m sure we had some pretty yellow fingers from all that tumeric. 🌻 Awe and wonder abounded as our kiddies learnt how everyday colourful foods and resources can be used as a natural paint palette. 🎨
Our Montessori group became little explorers and navigators as they are learning to find their way in their environment and how to use landmarks. 🧭 Never Eat Sour Worms was definitely a popular phrase 🐛
Thank you to our facilitators who make every week possible!

LESSONS FROM THE MOUNTAIN ⛰️

It's not every day you return from a 3-week stint in the mountains.

In these moments, the contrast of life and living becomes fully apparent. And the importance of spending time in nature is magnified.

I'm reassured, yet again, of the relevance of our work at Kinship. Having a relationship with nature - feeling comfortable and connected - is a blessing. Nature becomes the simplest home. The space you can return to again, and again - and rediscover yourself in. It's constant. And it's everywhere.

This week at Kinship.
In week 5, we wondered by the bush, dam, and parks. 🦅
Our kids loved to explore Zen Park (a real hidden gem in Ballito). Here they learnt about trees, leaves, and how we are similar to them (fun fact: our spine is just like what a stem is for a flower). 🌷
We also connected deeply to our senses through blindfolded activities. 🥷 this is trickier than it looks.
This encouraged kids to trust their leader and partner in helping them get to where they need to go. We’re all about teamwork.

We also loved to see our little ones initiate nature-based crafts (hello gorgeous leaf art)! 🖼️ Spontaneity really is key here at Kinship.
Our Durban North group visited Virginia Bush for a forest warrior expedition. 🌳
Much construction was under way - as tools and forts were formed! 🔨
And our Kinship kids were able to go on crucial rescue missions too. 🚑
We are so excited for all that’s in store for week 6! Stay tuned ✨

Last Saturday we had the privilege of exploring Virginia Bush Natute Reserve with Caryn🌳🐦
The ladies relished the opportunity to learn about different brid species.

What more could our Kinship kids need than leaves, mud, sticks, and a little bit of wool? 🍃 🧶

This week held many muddy feet and a whole lot of fine motor work with leaves. Got to laugh at how even the gumboots got left to the side in a Ballito session!

We love to see how nature brings kids together in the purest form of fun! One of our groups even got to pick some flowers and make their unique flower vase out of cardboard. This was a very special gift for our moms: a belated Mother’s Day celebration 🩷

This is why we do what we do.
And that’s a wrap on week 4! ✨

Hi Kinship community! 🪴

We have our monthly uHambo Lwethu event happening this Saturday (16 May) and we are kindly looking for people who are able to help get our Inanda teachers there. Pick up point is McDonalds, Gateway, and drop off at Virginia Bush. The meet up time is 7am.

We are also hoping for lifts back to McDonalds at around 11am. If you are wanting to help, but are unable to physically assist with drop offs, you are more than welcome to sponsor an Uber.

Please contact Jade for further details (082 777 6630) 🌼

We be-leaf in fun here at kinship! 🍃

And this week held plenty of it. From leaf identification and exploration, to making natural flower vases or leaf art, our kiddos got to engage their marvellous creative brains and hands. We love these moments where bamboo can even turn into a limbo bar!

Head to Japanese Gardens if you’d like to give it a go for some family fun!

Yay to another week of tapping into the joy and awe that nature has to offer! 🌼
