Registration for 2nd Chance Matric is open

Register to rewrite your Matric subjects:

01 October 2021 - 31 January 2022

The Second Chance Matric Programme offers support to learners who were not able to meet the minimum requirements of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or the extended Senior Certificate (SC), which leads to meeting the goals set by NDP.



Why should I register to re-write?

You can register to rewrite matric subjects if you want to improve your results.

A Matric pass will open up opportunities for you: entry-level employment, internships and learnerships, or entry to further and higher education institutions like colleges and universities.

You're eligible to rewrite Matric if:

If you have not written matric before, and have Grades 9, 10, and 11.

You're a current a Grade 12 learner.

You wrote your matric in 2020 (you will need to register at your former high school).

Where do I register?

Register at any provincial education office (which includes the Provincial Head Office, the District Office, or a Circuit Office) Click here for contact information.

Register online at www.eservices.gov.za. NB: We recommend that you use a laptop, tablet or desktop computer for an easier registration process.

What documents do I need?

If you have not written Matric before, you need an ID copy and Reports of Grade 9 OR Grade 10 OR Grade 11.

A completed registration form.

A certified copy of your ID document, birth certificate or passport (foreign candidates).

Repeat candidates must attach a copy of their previous highest qualification.

If you have entered and written any other Grade 12 or equivalent examination before, you will need to supply the examination numbers for those exams.

The 2nd Chance Matric programme is a FREE government initiative.
