Commemorating the Day of the African Child (DAC) - June 16
Today, we honour the legacy of the 1976 Soweto uprising, where brave students stood against an oppressive regime demanding quality education and the right to learn in their own language. Their courage reminds us of the ongoing struggle for children's rights across Africa.
This year's theme, "Planning and budgeting for children's rights: progress since 2010," calls on all Member States of the African Union to reflect on their achievements and challenges in integrating children's issues into planning and budgeting.
Let's unite as stakeholders to ensure every child in Africa has the opportunity to thrive.
